Student answer (Band 6.0)
A lot of primary and secondary schools offer two months of summer vacations in a number of countries thoughout the world.I will discuss the long vacations in detail and elaborate the advantages of less number of holidays in schools.
The most important reason for such long holidays that most of schools claim is the harsh summer weather in their area.As we all know a healthy body can have a healthy mind.Persuing the educational activities in such weather is very challenging for students.Secondly, these long holidays develop a habit of self research and self study in students. They learn to handle the academic issues by their own moreover they can find their own field of interest during vacations through different ways. Many of the schools assign different tasks to group of students living nearby that also enhance child's coordinationg and leadership skills. For Example,I learned my computer, swimming and driving skills during my summer vacations in my secondary school.
Consistency is key to sucess.Long school holidays can make a student inconsistent. There is a risk that he might lose his or her interest in the studies.Shorter vacations will make a student more responsible and punctual.A few students who are slow or they always need a push to continue their task such students need the teachers more for their progress in studies. Long holidays can have a very bad impact on such individuals.During the school days every student follows a routine which can be disturbed and can make the student lazy and irresponsive in two months of holidays.A survey by European union says that students who has less holidays in the academic year perfom more efficient than the other students.
In conclusion,Several primary and seconday schools are closed in summer vacattions for 60 days. These long holidays can serve as a best chance for students to learn different skills however they also have some disadvatages like making student irresposible, lazy and lack of interst in studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the value of long school holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the harsh summer weather and personal experiences of learning computer and swimming skills. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in places, and some arguments, like the negative impact on slow students, could have been developed with more precision. Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 6.5, leaning towards a Band 7 in terms of addressing all bullet points of the prompt, but the depth of support places it solidly within Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, the advantages of long holidays, the arguments for shorter holidays, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, spacing issues between sentences (e.g., 'world.I will', 'area. As we') and repetitive sentence starters detract from the flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun ambiguity in phrases like 'A few students who are slow or they always need a push... such students need the teachers'. Paragraphs transition logically, but the mechanics of cohesion need refinement to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'consistency', 'punctual', and 'coordinating and leadership skills'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that slightly impede communication or reveal awkward phrasing, such as 'Persuing', 'by their own' instead of 'on their own', 'irresponsive', 'lack of interst', and 'vacattions'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main arguments, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor where an adequate range is demonstrated alongside some recurring mechanical errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional ideas and relative clauses such as 'students who has less holidays in the academic year perfom more efficient'. There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('students who has', 'perfom more efficient' instead of 'perform more efficiently'), missing spaces after punctuation marks, and awkward prepositional use. While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, their frequency prevents the grammar score from reaching a Band 7. The control is characteristic of Band 6.
