Student answer (Band 5.0)
A Majority of countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays. This have some benifits and drawbacks as well.
The value of long school holidays are few. This will help children and teachers to give little break for their mental and physical health. This gives both of them to rest and reset for upcoming months. They both can spent enough time with their parents and travel with them. This will help to maintan their bonding with them. Forexample, my sister was studing in hostile. We did not get time to go somewhere together, but when she come for summer break we normaly go somewhere and spent our equally time together and share our talks together.
On the other side, long school holidays have some disadvantages as well. If students are getting two months summer breaks than they forget their acadmic skills. This will cause financial burden on working parents. They need childcare for there children because they need to go for work, or they have to find-out something like summer camps to sent their children over their. which is more costly in today's world. Moreover, if they get long holidays, they will use more social media. This will be bad habit in upcoming era. Short breaks means less time waste and more study which will help in future in their exams
In conclusion, I think long School holiday are not good for childrens and parents. This will increase financial problems but if there is extreme hot weather outside in summer then long schools holidays will help to save children from such problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones. A position is stated, particularly in the conclusion where the author suggests long holidays are generally not beneficial unless dealing with extreme heat. However, the ideas are relatively basic and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on the value of long holidays relies on brief, generalised assertions rather than extended arguments. The personal example regarding the author's sister studying in a hostel is somewhat tangential and not fully integrated to prove a broader point about school holidays. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of thorough elaboration keeps the response at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into logical paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs for each side of the argument, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transition phrases like 'The value of long school holidays are few' and 'On the other side,' but referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'They both can spent enough time with their parents and travel with them. This will help to maintan their bonding with them.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal progression within paragraphs lacks smooth flow due to abrupt shifts in ideas. Overall, the structural organisation shows some control, but the cohesive devices are inadequate and repetitive, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'financial burden', 'acadmic skills', and 'social media', but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'benifits', 'maintan', 'studing', 'hostel' (likely meaning boarding school or university accommodation), 'normaly', and 'childrens'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'share our talks together', occasionally cause minor difficulty for the reader and reveal a limited range that lacks precision, aligning closely with Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but the range of structures is limited and often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('This have some benifits', 'The value... are few'), tense inconsistencies ('when she come', 'they will use more social media. This will be bad habit'), and preposition misuse. Punctuation errors are also present, such as fragment sentences like 'which is more costly in today's world.' Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex sentences impacts readability and prevents the essay from reaching a Band 6.
