Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely underdeveloped and significantly fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 127 words. Consequently, the second part of the prompt regarding the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays is entirely omitted. While the writer attempts to address the value of long holidays by mentioning skill development, the ideas remain extremely limited and underdeveloped due to the premature ending. In accordance with the assessment criteria, a severe penalty must be applied for failing to meet the word count and leaving a major part of the prompt unanswered. Band 4.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text demonstrates basic organisational features such as 'ON THE ONE HAND', but overall progression is hindered by the extremely short response and lack of proper paragraphing. The second main body point regarding shorter holidays is missing entirely, meaning the structural balance of the essay is broken. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes awkward, such as 'MOREOVER WHY SHORTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS ARE BENEFICAL'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical transition between ideas affects the logical flow. Band 4.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several instances of incorrect word choice and word formation, such as 'LEARN SKILL' instead of 'learn skills', 'LARGER SUMMER VACATION' instead of 'longer summer vacation', and 'COMPURT BASESD SKILL'. There are noticeable spelling errors ('BENEFICAL', 'HEP THR CHILDREN') and awkward collocations ('become independent in their life before the time'). The range is minimally adequate to convey basic thoughts, but frequent errors strain the reader and restrict the score. Band 4.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The writing relies mostly on simple and flawed complex sentence forms, with frequent grammatical errors that impede comprehension. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('IF AN INDIVIDUAL HAVE LARGER SUMMER VACATION') and fragmented clauses ('WHICH IS HEP THR CHILDREN IN FUTURE'). Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect spacing and misplaced commas. While there are isolated instances of acceptable simple structures, the density of errors throughout the text keeps the grammar score at the lower end. Band 4.
