Student answer (Band 5.0)

These days a significant number of individuals are facing different issues in education sector specially in the early stages of education. In several states, Primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays. Due to this stance, many students facing various problems in their studies.

First of all, in many countries schools close for a specific period of time that is almost two to three months in the summer season. In many wam climate countries minors are not able to attent the schools in excessive hot weather. It is not possible for them to open theri schools in such a harsh weather. In this way, they can save the pupils by giving them holidays and aware them to stay at home. As a result they can save prevent their younger learners from heat and harsh weather condition.

In the contrary, other countries are in favour of lessen school holidays by overcome these issues. They consider that schools have to provide specific facities rather that long holidays. Therefore, after a long period of holidays majority of the students become exhaust to their curriculum and studies. To overcome there problems parents and administration should work side by side. Many countries are introducing many advanced technologies for the learners by which they can easily teach their students in the short interval of time. In this way, we can teach the students in less time despite of long holidays.

As a conclusion, many countries are in favour of shorter schools holidays because they argue that students become habbitual with holidays. They do not take interest in their studies and waste their time in extra activities. while others claim that long holidays are more beneficial for the students to save them from harsh weather in summer.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays (protecting students from harsh weather) and arguments for shorter holidays (preventing exhaustion and keeping students focused). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on weather focuses heavily on the same point without extending it further. The position is generally clear, but some supporting arguments lack depth and precision. Furthermore, the introduction strays slightly by claiming students face issues in the early stages of education generally, rather than focusing directly on the holiday duration. According to the band descriptors, this performance aligns with a Band 5.5, as it addresses all parts of the task but features under-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, providing a basic organizational structure. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by repetitive transitions and unclear referencing. Phrases like 'First of all,' and 'In the contrary,' are used to signal direction, but 'In the contrary' is grammatically inaccurate. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or over-used, and referencing is unclear in sentences such as 'In this way, they can save the pupils by giving them holidays and aware them to stay at home.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks smooth transitions. This fits the Band 5 descriptors, where there is some organization and paragraphing, but overall progression is faulty and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several word choice and collocation errors throughout the essay. Examples of errors include 'education sector specially' (spelling and omission of article), 'wam climate' (misspelling of warm), 'attent the schools' (incorrect verb form), 'theri schools' (typographical error), 'become exhaust' (incorrect form of adjective 'exhausted'), and 'habbitual with holidays' (incorrect preposition and collocation). While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'significant number', 'advanced technologies', and 'extra activities', the high frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies restricts the score. This sits comfortably at Band 5.0, reflecting a limited range of vocabulary with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'minors are not able to attent', 'It is not possible for them to open theri schools', 'they can save prevent their younger learners', and 'despite of long holidays' (incorrect prepositional phrase). Punctuation is also problematic, notably missing capital letters and periods in places, such as 'education. In several states' and missing spaces after punctuation marks. Because errors are frequent and can occasionally cause confusion for the reader, but basic communication is still achieved, this performance corresponds to a Band 5.0.
