Student answer (Band 5.0)
In summer primary and secondary schools remained closed for two month or more in numerous countries.I believe that the longer holidays for children is beneficial for them because they can learn various things , while shorter holidays make students more adjusted.
In long holidays students can learn different types of new things as their choice because they dont get academic pressure during this period.Such as making different kinds of art, learning music and many more. Beside that they get time to spend with their family memeber and can also travel different new places with them. When they visit new places they can experience various types of culture, tradation and lifestyle with their nacked eyes.for instance students learn different types of places in their academic places and if they visit partically it helps them to learn quick and more easily.
In short holidays, students get limited period of time and they become adjusted in same place and cant spend their time in exporing different places which they are willing for visit. in short period holidays they also cannot met with their family who are living across another city. so that the short period holiday is not beneficial for students who want to learn new things and other many more.in my view short holiday is better for those who are really more instrested in their studies and like to work in academic section .
in conclusion, longer holidays have many positive points and different opportunities for students as compared to short holidays.therefore, i recommened long holidays for the students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding the arguments for shorter holidays, where the explanation relies heavily on simple assertions rather than fully elaborated examples. For instance, the point about students being "adjusted in same place" is underdeveloped and lacks clarity. This places the response comfortably in Band 5.5 to 6.0. Because the ideas are relevant and all parts of the prompt are addressed, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, providing a logical overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion at the sentence level is often mechanical or faulty. There are missing spaces after punctuation marks (e.g., "countries.I believe"), and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as using "they" ambiguously between students and places. Cohesive devices are used, but they are basic and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'such as', 'beside that', 'in conclusion'). Paragraphing is present, but internal progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and grammatical slips. Overall, these issues reflect the characteristics of Band 5.0, where organisation is present but cohesion is inadequate and mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon relevant themes like education, family, and travel. However, there are numerous word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as "academic pressure", "nacked eyes", and "working in academic section". Spelling mistakes are also present, including "memeber", "tradation", "partically", and "instrested". While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items (e.g., "experience various types of culture"), the frequent inaccuracies in lexical forms and spelling restrict the overall score. Communication is not completely impeded, but the noticeable errors point firmly toward a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures often contain noticeable errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'When they visit new places they can experience various types of culture, tradation and lifestyle with their nacked eyes.' Punctuation and capitalization are weak throughout the text, with several missing spaces after periods and commas, and uncapitalized pronouns ('i'). Errors in subject-verb agreement also occur, such as 'schools remained closed for two month or more' and 'students can learn different types of new things as their choice because they dont get academic pressure'. These recurring grammatical and mechanical errors place the writing at a Band 5.0 level.
