Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays (physical/mental well-being, family bonding) and the arguments in favour of shorter holidays (academic retention, parental work stability). However, the development of ideas is often limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, points regarding skill development are listed as fragments rather than fully extended arguments, such as 'like self dependent, communication, persue new hobbies, socially active, being confidence.' The position is stated in the introduction and conclusion, but the supporting arguments lack depth and clear examples, placing this response securely at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor sentence structuring, disjointed fragments, and mechanical transitions such as 'To begin with one of the primary banefits' and 'In concluide'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak due to erratic punctuation and poor referencing. For instance, sentences like 'To spend more time that make their relationship strong' lack clear referents and connective tissue. Overall organisation shows some structure, but the cohesive devices are frequently inaccurate or inadequate, reflecting Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'rejuvinate', 'culturly', and 'persue', but these are marred by frequent spelling and word-form errors (e.g., 'lenghty', 'drawack', 'banefits', 'continues' instead of continuous). The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for discussing education topics. Word choices and collocations are often unnatural, such as 'full on chill mode' and 'many guidence not afford activity classes,' which cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The writing displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent attempts at complex sentences resulting in severe grammatical errors and sentence fragments. Examples include 'Like involve in sports club or volunterring, participate diffrent activities' and 'students was not forget their academic work.' Punctuation is faulty throughout, and subject-verb agreement issues are common (e.g., 'child was rest'). Errors are frequent and often strain the reader's understanding, aligning closely with the Band 4.0 descriptors.
