Student answer (Band 5.0)
Parapharse:Long time holidays provide physically and mentally rest, strong and a good bonding with family. And short time holidays doesnot provide pyysicall and mental properly,in this short time the students managed the momentum like learning and writing work from thier school and thier teachers.
On the one hand, long time holidays provide mentally and physically rest, it is very useful for children health brain staibilty. And specially good time spending time oppurtunities with family and and make a good bonding with one another. And the students visits the northern areas with family in the free time. And make the good memories with family and cousions.Children explore the non acadamic talent like sports, art, and camping etc
on the other hand, short time leave doesnot provide mentally and physically health properly and do not break strees.and big reason the short time leave is,the students have a short time and they have not oppurtunities to time spend with family and visiting the famous places in pakisntan specially northern areas.in this case the students totally focus on study writing and learning the lesson so they provide by ther teachers .in short leave the student ,maintain the momentum and doesnot enjoying the holidays with family.spreading smaller holidays across the year prevents sudden burnout.
Long time holidays is much betterb than short time holidays.Reason; In long time holidays the students some time spend to windup the all school work like reading, learning and writing and proper time to manage the study. And the other time spend with family enjoying and to reduce thier stress. And the basic thing is makea good bonding and understanding with family.on the other case short time leave, stuident donot have time properly.children donot manage the time for study. So the students first priority is study.in case the student doesnot reduce the stress and meantall stale properlly. So at the end long time holidays is must for students and teachers tio fresh thier mind and recharge thier energy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays, such as rest, family bonding, and exploring non-academic talents, as well as the arguments in favour of shorter holidays, like maintaining learning momentum and reducing sudden burnout. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and under-developed, relying on generalised statements rather than fully elaborated examples. For instance, mentioning visiting northern areas in Pakistan is a relevant local example, but it is not expanded upon to show how it directly impacts student development. The response fits the Band 6 profile, as all parts of the task are addressed, but the development of ideas lacks depth and contains some circular reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates an overall logical arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraph breaks are missing or incorrectly formatted, such as the missing space after punctuation marks throughout the text. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently repetitive and mechanical, such as the constant use of 'And', 'In short time', and 'on the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical progression between sentences. While the progression of ideas can be discerned, the lack of sophisticated cohesive ties and poor punctuation spacing place this response firmly in the Band 5 category for cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'time', 'family', 'study', and 'rest'. There are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'physically and mentally rest', 'health brain staibilty', and 'non acadamic talent'. Spelling errors are also common throughout the text, including 'pyysicall', 'oppurtunities', 'cousions', 'strees', 'pakisntan', 'mentall', 'stale', and 'tio'. Although the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'momentum', 'burnout', and 'recharge', the high frequency of basic errors and limited lexical range restrict the score to Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or poorly constructed compound sentences, and attempts at complex structures frequently result in faulty syntax and grammatical errors, such as 'short time leave doesnot provide mentally and physically health properly and do not break strees.' There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after periods and commas. Errors are frequent and often cause strain for the reader, although the general meaning remains mostly decipherable. These features align closely with the Band 4 descriptors.
