Student answer (Band 5.0)

Society is divided into altruistic and ecocentric mindsets of people. Although some masses hold the viewpoint that in most regions primary and secondary schools shut for two months or extra in the summer vaccations because of travel and experience different cultures, I believe that latter statement holds more importance.

On the one hand, the main reason why some masses favour the former statement is because of more time spend with family. This is due to the fact that children have much study burden on their minds and they spend lot of time with books or technology but in the holidays they have more time to spend time with family. They can eat, sleep, watch television together in vaccations. For instance, a survey is conducted by family and welfare department has provided concrete evidence by highlighting that 40% people wants longer holidays. As a result, they take fun and entertain our life.

On the other hand, I believe that the latter view supporters give the major reason of students retain knowledge more effectively in its favour. As they believe that students have take break from studies shorter school holidays but it have a sudden impacts on studies it harms the study level of study so children can learn many things in school because they spend lot of time in school.Another reason is given by parents have fewer childcare problems. This means that some children can give stress to their parents in vaccation so parents should want school should aloow short time vaccation.

To conclude, even though people support first statement , I believe that latter statement is more valueable because of less time is needed to revise after a long break and parents have fewer childcare problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays (e.g., family time) and the arguments for shorter holidays (e.g., knowledge retention and fewer childcare problems). However, the ideas are somewhat limited, repetitive, and lack full development. For instance, the discussion on family time relies heavily on simple statements like 'they can eat, sleep, watch television together'. The position is stated, but the overall progression of arguments is weakened by lack of elaboration and vague supportive details, such as a fabricated survey statistic. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5, as it addresses the task but remains under-developed and superficial in places.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into appropriate paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions and confusing sentence construction. Cohesive devices are often used mechanically or inaccurately, such as referencing 'the latter statement' or 'the former statement' incorrectly or redundantly. For instance, phrases like 'the latter view supporters give the major reason of students retain knowledge' create confusion. While there is an overall structure, the relationships between ideas are not always transparent, and referencing issues lead to a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words and phrases like 'study burden', 'fun', and 'lot of time'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'vaccations' instead of 'vacations', 'aloow' instead of 'allow', and awkward collocations like 'harm the study level of study'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary (e.g., 'altruistic and ecocentric mindsets') appear forced and do not fit the context naturally. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, resulting in a band score of 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but complex structures are frequently faulty and contain frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'students have take break from studies shorter school holidays but it have a sudden impacts on studies' and 'a survey is conducted by family and welfare department has provided'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement errors are common throughout the text (e.g., 'children have much study burden', '40% people wants'). These persistent errors can cause some difficulty and strain for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptor well.
