Student answer (Band 5.0)

Several countries allow to close school for two or more months in the summer holidays. I strongly agree that schools should be closed for atleast 2 months because students desire must be considerable.

On the one hand, government should encourage private schooling system to make many possibilities for summer holidays rather than they enjoy free fee in specially for two months. For instance, many rural areas parents are not financially strong to pay heavy private school fee in summer holidays . Meanwhile students should relief in education however it is not a mandatory part to live happy life. Parents should encourage their children to spend more time with physical activity rather than study. Therefore, education plays significant role in every student life.

However, I believe that short holidays are not enough to feel students more relax because in my own experience when i was in secondary so i hate schooling homework system and many private schools put a heavy burden of homework in summer holidays for students. However, they should discourage this activity and they allow to do more other activties.

In conclusion, Private school should be allow more than two months holidays. Meanwhile they can play significant role for upcoming generation those are well skilled for their capibilties about what they are and what they can. I believe schooling system fascilities for students in future how to enjoy skillful and happy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding the value of long school holidays and arguments in favour of shorter ones, but the development of ideas remains quite limited and repetitive. Furthermore, the length requirement has NOT been met: the response contains only 233 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum, which incurs a direct penalty on this criterion. While the student expresses a clear position ('I strongly agree that schools should be closed for atleast 2 months'), the supporting arguments are muddled by unclear phrasing, such as discussing free fees in private schools or stating that 'students should relief in education however it is not a mandatory part to live happy life.' Ideas regarding physical activity and heavy homework burdens are touched upon but remain underdeveloped and lack specific, well-reasoned examples. Consequently, this falls under Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some overall organisation. However, there is no clear overall logical progression due to erratic paragraphing and abrupt shifts in topic. For instance, the second paragraph mixes thoughts on private school fees, rural parents, relief in education, and physical activity all in a single block. Cohesive devices are either misused or absent, resulting in mechanical and confusing transitions ('Meanwhile', 'However', 'Therefore'). Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is attempted but used inappropriately, as sentences are grouped without thematic cohesion. These features align closely with Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with limited flexibility. The student employs simple terms ('happy life', 'heavy burden', 'physical activity') alongside unsuccessful attempts at less common phrasing ('upcoming generation', 'skillful and happy life'). There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'allow to close school', 'students desire must be considerable', 'feel students more relax', and 'capibilties'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'fascilities' and 'capibilties'. While the meaning can sometimes be guessed from context, the frequent lexical inaccuracies and limited range restrict the score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple and flawed complex sentences. Attempts at complex structures frequently result in heavy grammatical errors, such as 'when i was in secondary so i hate schooling homework system' and 'Private school should be allow more than two months holidays.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, voice (e.g., 'should be allow'), punctuation, and capitalization (e.g., lowercase 'i'). These persistent grammatical errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and mean that error-free sentences are rare, placing the performance firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on standard scoring bands.
