Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often debated, wheather schools should grant long holidays or short holidays. Many primary and secondary schools are closed more than month in summer holidays. From my perspective, while short holidays dont favour in childrens education, I firmly believe that long holidays help children to refresh themselves and spent their time with their friends and family members.
To initiate with, long holidays often help children to create their assingment in a organized way. This is because children often required more time to understand their projects. For example, a child in sixth grade with a project work including:
view of his/her neighbours upon their profession needs relatively high amount of time to spend in his/her project. In this way, a child gets enough time to spend in his/her project with his/her full attention and enthusiasm.Having long holidays help children to focus on their extra-curriculur routine like: spending time on practising cricket, spend time on chess and long holidays also give opportunity to spend their time with thier peers.
On the other hand, having short holiday helps children to grow their attention in their study.Often parents and teachers insist on having short holiday for children to engage their children, back to their school.
Parents often consider that short holiday keeps their child more focused in study, while teacher consider, having short holiday is beneficial to cover-up the syllabus.
To sum up, long holidays are often beneficial for children to afford their interest in their hobbies while arguments of parents and teachers in favour of short holiday have influenced the most of schools to provide short holiday.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones, maintaining a clear overall position. The student outlines relevant ideas, such as allowing children sufficient time for extended project work, pursuing hobbies, and spending time with peers, while counterbalancing this with teacher and parent perspectives regarding academic focus and curriculum coverage. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or presented in a somewhat generalised manner, particularly in the body paragraphs where examples like the sixth-grade neighbour project are overly specific yet lack complete extension. Overall, the response fulfills the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear attempts at paragraphing and structuring an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional phrases such as 'To initiate with', 'For example', and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader, although some cohesive devices feel slightly mechanical or formulaic. Paragraphing is used generally well, though the conclusion is isolated by excessive spacing. Referencing is mostly clear, but occasional clunky transitions prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Progression is evident, placing the response solidly at a Band 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'extra-curriculur routine', 'enthusiasm', and 'cover-up the syllabus'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'wheather' instead of 'whether', 'dont favour in' instead of 'do not benefit', and 'assingment' instead of 'assignment'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally adequate for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, such as missing articles ('with project work', 'in sixth grade'), incorrect prepositions ('spend time on practising', 'grow their attention in'), and spelling/typographical errors like missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede communication, aligning with the Band 6.0 descriptor where a mix of structures is used alongside persistent errors.
