IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays.
What is the value of long school holidays?
What are the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, some people believes that there should be long school holidays while others argue about the shorter holidays.
During the summer, there are high risks for the heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat rash, sunburn and other related diseases which increase the concern for health. Secondly, the primary symptoms such as dehydration, nosebleed, fatigue and other skin problems affects the performance of the student. Additionaly, the moon soon causes flood which badly impact on the transportation consequencely, it results in absence or shortage of attandence. The parents have to pay heavy fine with fee charges which are unaffordable. Therefore, there should be longer school holiays during summer to protect the childrens from the severe heat related problems and also prepare the students for extra curricular activities which helps in enhancing the skills in sports and fitness. However it saves the student to pay heavy fines under waterlogged conditins.
Some people argue that there should be a shorter holidays because it causes learning loss. In results, there are various behavioral changes occured in a child such as low confidence, weaker foundation and slower progress. It impactly badly on the student academic performance.
