IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays.

What is the value of long school holidays?

What are the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, schools remain closed for two months or longer during the summer holidays. While these extended of holidays provide students with an oppurtunity to relax and spend time with their parents, some people believe that shorter breaks would help to maintain their academic progress and maintaing study routine.

During summer in schools childerns can get two or more months of holidays. At that time students can relaxed by physically and mentally and next tey will recover from academic strees and return to the schools feeling refreshed. Most of the students they spend time with their families and friends and some other people may enjoy the holidays go to trips and explore new places. Where some other students may utilise these breaks that they converted these breaks into learning new skills whereas they can attend the summer camps, learn music , play sports or develop other hobbies.

with regard to the second question, some people believe less breaks during summer period. One significant factor is they can improve their academic performance , as students can learn regularly and they donot forget what they have learned. In addition, students must maitain the daily routine this can play crucial role in academics. For instance, when the students goig to school regularly they revise the lessons daily and are less like to forget what they have learned demonstrates how short period of holidays may help. Consequently, shorter school holidays during summer helps in their academic performance.

In conclusion, for the childerns having longer breaks during summer, Primarily because they can relaxed by physically and mentally. At the same time, those students having less holidays in summer period may increase their academic knowledge.
