Student answer (Band 5.0)
In numerous countries primary and secondary schools are two months or more for the summer vacations. This essay will discuss the significance of the long schools holidays and the arguement that support marginal school vacations.
It is very crucial for the students to have a break from their studies. In many countries, schools are often closed in the summers due to some significant factors such as in some regions of the contries located in South Asia like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and in the African continent the heat is hardely bearable and becomes increasingly challenging as the temperature usually goes above 45 degree which cause dehydration and exessive sweating. Consequently, this is one of the crucial factor for long vacations. In addition, a student studies an average of eight to nine subjets consistently in a year which is very pressurising for which vacations play a crucial role so the students can start fresh for the next year.
On the other hand, detrimental results of considerable portion of students can be an arguement in favor of the shorter holidays as it can be very concerning for the schools. Moreover, from my perspective the children in primary and secondary schools should spend most of their time on grounds while studying at the same time. However, this can help in personality developement of the child.
To Conclude, i believe that the children in primary and secondary school should be granted vacations for two months or more as the students can spend more time in physical activities and with their parents. In addition,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the value of long school holidays and the arguments for shorter ones, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions weather conditions in South Asia and Africa, the explanation is tied up in a lengthy, single-sentence run-on that lacks clear extension. Similarly, the argument in favour of shorter holidays only vaguely touches upon 'detrimental results' without providing a specific, supported explanation. The position is somewhat evident, but the lack of well-developed supporting arguments keeps the task response constrained, as ideas are introduced rather than fully explored and explained with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is a notable lack of clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph trails off abruptly with an incomplete sentence ('In addition, ...'), showing mechanical and inadequate structural management. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes inaccurately, such as the abrupt transitions in the second body paragraph ('On the other hand...'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow a logical line of thought from one point to the next throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring a limited range that is appropriate for communicating basic concepts. There are noticeable lexical errors, word choice issues, and spelling mistakes that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. Instances such as 'arguement' instead of argument, 'hardely' instead of hardly, 'subjets' instead of subjects, and 'developement' instead of development highlight a lack of precision in spelling and word form. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'consequently' and 'significance', but overall control remains restricted, preventing the attainment of a higher lexical level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text exhibits a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences combined with faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with prepositions, verb forms, and article usage, such as 'are two months or more' missing necessary verbs or prepositional phrases, and 'temperature usually goes above 45 degree which cause' showing subject-verb agreement and pluralisation errors. Punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('i believe'), also occur. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate restricted control over sentence grammar.
