Student answer (Band 5.0)
The issue of long school holidays has become a subject of considerable date in recent years.Numerous countries provide a wide range of hoildays to their learners. In some schools, there is a government order to close the school for atleast two to three months and this is not complicated for schools that allow the holidays for long passage of time.A major contributing factors is that every school has several rules ad regulations which are imposed on it from authorities. However, sometimes in order to obey the rules cause serious conditions such as lack of study, punctuality and discipline which is no more among students. This is not only adopt in primary school, secondary schools are also a part of it.Due to my own experience, for industrious and diligent learners these holidays are extremely valuable. They spent their lot of time in study and too much absorbed in assignments.Aditionally, the students who have huge aims in life avail countless benefits from this opportunity. They polished themselves for looming annual exams.Shortly, the diligent students also work on different skill they have. While others keep frantic themselves in exam preprations. The summer holidays are waste of time for many students who don't take intereset in studies. These students can do nothing in their life. They waste their time in different activites such as playing football, cricket and other such games. They don't worry about their studies.Their parents are also exausted from their doings. They have no proper aims and goals for work.Such lazy bluffers should be left on the mercy of the crule world. For that kind of students should be shorter. They don't realize the worth of long-term holidays.the worth is only valuable for hardworking students. This is huge argument of lazy students to extend the dates of holidays which has deterimental effect on their studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially, attempting to discuss both the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones, but the position is not always clear. Ideas are limited and under-developed, often shifting into overly generalised or emotional statements, such as describing lazy students as 'lazy bluffers should be left on the mercy of the crule world.' While the writer touches upon personal experience regarding industrious learners, the explanation remains superficial and lacks fully extended supporting arguments. To move to a higher level, the response needs to present a clearer, more consistent position throughout and develop each main idea with well-supported explanations and relevant examples rather than brief, repetitive assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text displays some overall organisation, but there is no clear progression of ideas throughout the response. Paragraphing is extremely weak, with almost the entire essay compressed into a single massive block of text, which severely hampers logical flow. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or mechanical; transitional phrases like 'Shortly' and 'Aditionally' are misused, and referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader confused about how ideas connect. To achieve a better score, the writer must divide the essay into logical paragraphs representing distinct stages of the argument, and employ basic cohesive ties more accurately to guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. There are several spelling mistakes, such as 'hoildays' instead of 'holidays', 'Aditionally' instead of 'Additionally', and 'deterimental' misspelled as 'deterimetal', alongside word-choice inaccuracies like 'considerable date' instead of 'considerable debate'. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but improper collocations and awkward phrasing occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, ensure correct word forms and spelling, and use vocabulary with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout, including missing spaces after punctuation marks, subject-verb agreement issues like 'sometimes in order to obey the rules cause', and incorrect prepositional usage, such as 'left on the mercy'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning. To improve this criterion, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring accurate punctuation, and reducing grammatical errors in verb forms and agreements.
