Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education is a key wapon for transforming societies and individuals. A healthy balance between work and rest is essential for every human. In many countries, school offers two months rest or summer vacations for primary and secondary school students; however, some people believe that shorter holidays would be more advantageous.
On the one hand, longer summer vacations can be highly beneficial for student's physical and mental well-beings. After 8 to 9 months of study, students can become tired and feel life become more monotonus. Longer holidays can provide good sleep, relax, and recover from academic studies. In addition, these breaks allow them spending time with their loved ones, their kith and kin and escape from the hustle and bustle of academic life. For instance, in India, many students use their summer vacation to visit relatives or attend sports and skill-development programmes. Therefore, a lengthy break can be useful for children to gain experiences, develop new skills and recharge their bettery.
On the flip side, every aspect has its prons ans cons. First and foremost, a long break can cause students to forgot previous studies, learning new skills, particularly in subjects namely mathematics and science. Consequently, teachers spend more time to recover all topics which directly impact on student's academic life. For instance, a regular short breaks throughout the academic year could help students remain focused without forgetting substantial learning time.
To recapitulate, longer breaks are essential because in that time, people develop new skills, explores new things such as cities, increase affinity with their loved ones. In contrast, shorter breaks help students to recharge their bettery without forgetting previous things. I strongely believe that longer vacations a provide positive attitude for learning new things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones, maintaining a clear position throughout. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on physical and mental well-being is supported with a relevant example about Indian students visiting relatives, but the points regarding learning loss in mathematics and science remain somewhat generalised and under-developed. To move to a higher level, all parts of the prompt need to be equally extended with fully explained examples and deeper elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas across paragraphs, transitioning logically from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing both perspectives and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the flip side', and 'To recapitulate', but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, referencing and logical flow occasionally falter, as seen in the slightly disjointed connection between sentences in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately, but smoother transitions and more flexible management of cohesive ties are needed to achieve a more natural flow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'hustle and bustle', 'kith and kin', and 'skill-development programmes'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect limitations in lexical control, such as 'wapon' instead of weapon, 'monotonus' instead of monotonous, 'relax' used as a noun instead of relaxation, 'prons ans cons' instead of pros and cons, and 'bettery' instead of battery. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded. To progress further, the writer needs to demonstrate greater precision in word choice, correct spelling, and more accurate control of less common lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions ('spend more time to recover all topics', 'provide positive attitude'), singular/plural mismatches ('a regular short breaks'), and incorrect preposition usage or verb forms ('allow them spending time', 'longer vacations a provide'). However, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To reach a higher standard, the writer must increase the proportion of error-free sentences and eliminate basic structural slips in articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement.
