Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many schools in all over the world have provided long summer holidays lasting two or more months. While extended breaks offer several benefits but there are some debates for reducing school holidays. This essay will explain the benefits of long school holidays and give some reason why shorter holidays may be beneficial.
Long school holidays can provided students with an oportunity to explore the world by themselves. They can refresh their mind after a long time of school days. They can have a rest and can recover from their academic pressure. Moreover, they can have some times to practice their extra curricular activities or their hobbies. It can also refresh their mind. For example, a student can spend their time with family, travel to different places or practicing their hobby such as gaming, music, gardening etc which will help them a lot and they can concentrate more into their studies after the holiday.
However, there are several arguments in favour of shorter school holidays. Studen can forget their education what they have learned in the school after a long period of remaining away from school. A shorter break would allow them to refresh their mind and they can maintain their education life without forgetting anything. Another argument is long holidays can create difficulties for working parents, they have to arrange childcare for their children while they are not attending school duing the holidays. This can be a hustle for parents if they have not prepare for it.
In conclusion, although long school holidays allow students to refresh their mind, they can practice their passion and hobbies, spend time with their families and develop personal interest. Shorter holidays can help them maintain their learning habits and parents do not have to prepare childcare. Therefore, both types of holidays have their own perspective and have their owm benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter breaks. Your position is clear throughout the essay and in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the second paragraph discusses the value of long holidays with several examples such as travelling and family time, the points tend to repeat the notion of 'refreshing the mind' rather than expanding into broader developmental or educational impacts. Similarly, the arguments about working parents and childcare in the third paragraph are relevant but remain somewhat basic. To move towards higher bands, you should extend and support your ideas with deeper explanations or more varied examples rather than restating similar points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure that follows a standard four-paragraph format. You use basic cohesive devices to connect your ideas, such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, some referencing is not always clear, and the use of cohesive devices occasionally feels mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition between sentences in the body paragraphs could be smoother to establish a stronger logical progression. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs covering opposing views, and the conclusion. To improve further, integrate more varied and flexible cohesive phrases to link sentences and ideas seamlessly without relying on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your main points about school holidays. You attempt some less common items and topic-specific vocabulary such as 'academic pressure', 'extracurricular activities', and 'childcare'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that reflect a limited and developing lexical range. For example, expressions like 'in all over the world' should be 'all over the world', 'education life' is unnatural compared to 'academic life' or 'educational journey', and 'hustle' is misused where 'hassle' was intended. Additionally, minor spelling slips appear, such as 'oportunity' and 'duing'. These errors do not impede communication, but refining your control of word forms and spelling is necessary to achieve a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, including conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, several errors in grammar and punctuation. You make mistakes with verb forms and modal patterns, such as 'can provided' instead of 'can provide', and minor preposition or article errors like 'in the school' instead of 'at school' or 'in school'. Furthermore, some sentence structures are awkward, such as 'Studen can forget their education what they have learned', where the relative pronoun is redundant. Although these errors are present, they rarely impede communication, and many sentences remain clear. To improve your grammar score, focus on eliminating basic verb agreement and tense errors while ensuring greater accuracy when constructing complex sentences.
