Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt only partially, fulfilling the requirement to discuss both the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions that long holidays allow children to focus on extracurricular activities such as "basket ball, canvas painting, badminton any so on," the supporting explanations do not go far enough to fully explore the impacts on child development. Similarly, the second body paragraph attempts to present arguments against shorter holidays, but the reasoning is obscured by underdeveloped arguments and unclear logic regarding school schedules. Although a basic position is presented in the introduction and conclusion, the overall development lacks the depth and extension required for a higher level, resulting in a somewhat repetitive presentation of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization with a clear four-paragraph structure containing an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are often used inaccurately or repetitively, such as the frequent transitions like "On the other hand," "Furthermore," and "In addition," which do not always connect ideas smoothly. Referencing and substitution are occasionally faulty, as seen in phrases like "in those period of time" or "critics of shorter leave," where pronoun and noun references become ambiguous. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical links within paragraphs need tighter management to ensure the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to education and holidays, such as "extracurricular activities," "academic pressure," and "international trip," but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. For instance, expressions like "regards summer vacation," "how the valuable for students," and "basket ball, canvas painting" demonstrate inaccuracies in parts of speech and phrasing. Additionally, there are spelling and word-form slips such as "curcial," "sufficent," "instituate," and "soend" that cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentence patterns alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these issues include "In this essay will discuss about how the valuable," "children do not able to multiple things," and "for the those school who are giving homework beacuse their vacation complete." Punctuation errors also occur, and the high frequency of grammatical mistakes across various structures often causes difficulty for the reader, preventing the sentence forms from achieving smooth control.
