Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, most of the high and primary schools are often close for couples of month in the summer holidays due to the many positive reasons whereas some people opine to shortern the school holidays. This eassy intend to examine why leanthy holiday are necessary and what are the drawbacks.
Firstly, the main purpose behind the holidays are stress relief and exploration of the new things. The student can went to the park or the swimming pool on the vacation to relief the stress and give rest to their body and mind. They can also spend the time with their friends, family members or relatives which makes the relationship stronger with them whereas they can also try new dishes and explore different places which makes them fresh and healthy.
However, the significant disadvantage of this is that children forgot quickly what they study before the holiday and also they don't know to write and read properly for the first time after the holidays because their body is adjusted according to the vacation what they have done. Therefore, this can put teachers as well as pupils in a difficult situation.
In conclusion, school holidays are essential but their downside makes pupils difficult what they have got knowledge before the holidays. I strongly believed that shortening holidays for 2 weeks should balance both pros as well as cons.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones, thus meeting the core requirements of the task. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, lacking sufficient extension or specific supporting examples. For instance, the points about stress relief and learning loss remain quite general. Additionally, it must be noted that the length requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the minimum two hundred and fifty-word limit, which impacts the overall development of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some basic organisation, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and paragraphs are used to structure the text. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the response. Cohesive devices are sometimes repetitive or basic, such as the frequent reliance on 'whereas', and referencing is not always clear, making the logical flow feel somewhat mechanical rather than naturally progressive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'exploration' and 'disadvantage', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'shortern' instead of shorten, 'eassy' instead of essay, 'leanthy' instead of lengthy, and 'forgot' instead of forget. These lexical errors and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader at times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside a few basic attempts at complex structures that often turn out faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and verb form issues such as 'schools are often close' instead of closed, 'can went' instead of go, 'student can went' with plural/singular mismatch, and 'they don't know to write' instead of how to write. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader.
