Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many nations, primary and secondary education centers are closed for more than two months for the summer vacation. This essay will discuss the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones.
Long summer holidays haave several benefits for students and teachers. one of the main reason is, students get enough time to relaax and recover from acadmic pressure. they can spend quality time with their families and learn new hobbies like sports and music, which helps in their overall development. for instance, many cchildren in india join summer camps to learn dancing, swimming and sports. Furthermore, teachers are also get break to relaxed from their hectic schedules. meanwhile, in holidays tutors gets not only time to upgrade their teaching skills but also prepare lessons for the next academic year.Due to this, it improves the quality of teaching. In addition, in hot couuntry like India long holidays are neccessary because it is difficult to study in extreme heat.
On the othet hand, there are strong arguments in favour of shorter holidays. the main argument is that students forget whaat they learned durinng long break. As a result, teachers have to revise the previous year's syllabus, in initial days which wastes the time. To exemplify this, many students lose their reading and writing flow after couple of months becuase in the holidays they all are more concentrate in other activities. Morover, working parents have to face problems to manage their work and children at the same time during holidays. As a result they have to take leave or hire child caretaker to lookafter their childrens at home. Shorter holidays can solve this problem and also provide regular studies, which improves acadmic performance.
In conclusion, althouugh lonng holidays are valuable for rest and personal growth, shorter holidays have advantages such as better learning continuity and suppourt for working parents

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones, maintaining a clear position throughout. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, while the benefits of long holidays are supported with reasons regarding relaxation and family time, the discussion on shorter holidays relies on somewhat general points regarding revision and working parents. To reach a higher level, the ideas need more extended explanation and specific examples rather than brief mentions. The response is well-structured overall, covering both bullet points adequately while fulfilling the task requirements successfully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression of ideas across paragraphs. Introduction and conclusion paragraphs are present, and the body paragraphs clearly separate the two distinct aspects of the prompt. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, such as abrupt transitions between sentences and minor issues with sentence-to-sentence flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main themes, but the overall progression could be smoother to achieve a fully integrated structure throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'overall development', 'hectic schedules', and 'learning continuity'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and spelling. Several spelling and word-form errors occur throughout the text, including 'haave', 'acadmic', 'relaax', 'couuntry', 'neccessary', 'whaat', 'durinng', 'becuase', 'concentrate', and 'althouugh'. While these lexical errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the lexical score because precision and control are compromised by frequent mechanical slip-ups and awkward phrasings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. There are several grammatical errors in areas such as article usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, for instance, 'one of the main reason is', 'teachers are also get break to relaxed', 'tutors gets not only time', and 'in initial days which wastes the time'. Punctuation and spacing issues also frequently occur, such as missing spaces after periods and commas. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication entirely, and the basic meaning remains clear. Greater control over complex syntactic structures and accurate punctuation would be required for a higher score.
