Student answer (Band 5.5)
In countries like USA, Australia, and many more give two months or more as summer holiday fot primary and secondary schools.India also gives summer holidays to students but its not fullly 2 months holiday,it's of 45 days for centeral board.
Giving two months holiday to primary and secondary school childerns as some countries think during hot summer days coming for school and having classes and traveling to school and traveling back in summer is not good for primary and secondary students. Also when students have summer holidays in some countries like USA encourage students to participate in sports or extra activities during those holidays. In India when childerns get summer holidays they are assigned some task on each subject that they need to complete during holidays and show it to subject teacher after the vacation is over and they will provide them ecxtra marks for it which will be added in their subject marks at the end result of the grade. In some countries during summers its very hot that you can be out for long time so schools give holiday for summers so childern get time to improve their skills in sports or other activities like painting, etc.
When students are provided with two months long vacation some people argue that they should give shorter school holidays. They raise this arguement beacuse some kids don't participate during this days and just watch TV and play video games all day long beacuse of this some parents want that if vacations are shorter atleast their child will be studying.
To core out, students should be getting two months long summer holidays so that they can work on their passion and improving skills in their interest like sports, painting, etc. As per my experience when I was in secondary school and get summer holidays I used to play and improve my cricket skills and also learn new skills and learn new things while enjoying the vacation. So in my opinion students should get two months holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones, supported by relevant examples such as holiday homework in India and personal cricket experiences. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the points regarding health and skill development are introduced, they are somewhat repetitive and under-developed, particularly when discussing weather conditions or holiday homework. The position is generally clear throughout, but the lack of fully extended supporting arguments prevents the response from reaching a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible progression of ideas, separating the value of holidays and the arguments for shorter ones into distinct body paragraphs. However, cohesion is at times mechanical and faulty. Reference words such as 'this' and 'they' are occasionally ambiguous, as seen in sentences like 'because of this some parents want...'. Paragraphing is used, but transitions between ideas within paragraphs feel abrupt. The introduction and conclusion are present, but the organizational structure lacks smooth cohesive devices to seamlessly link contrasting viewpoints.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to communicate basic ideas about school holidays, sports, and skills. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'participate', 'vacation', and 'passion', but these are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'To core out' instead of 'To conclude', and occasional spelling errors like 'ecxtra'. Word formation and collocation errors, such as 'improving skills in their interest', are present, though they do not seriously impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are often accompanied by frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. There are noticeable issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'childerns get', missing articles ('in USA', 'centeral board'), and run-on sentences with inadequate punctuation, notably in lengthy sentences like 'Also when students have summer holidays in some countries like USA encourage students...'. Errors in prepositions within grammatical patterns also persist, which can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting comfortably within the mid-range descriptor.
