Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many countries all over the world, Have listed Summer Holidays or Vacation for Primary and Secondary Students in this period of time schools remained closed for two or more months.

So on this topic many people's have there own opinion towards summer holidays where some people objected and some supporting the arguments. In my opinion School summer holidays is very important for students because the value of this holidays are kind of reward to childrens who have made their efforts toward studies whole year they fully concentrated with syllabus but only in this period they love to play without any study stress and this term period keep them happy ,physically and mentally fit and they were gona prepared themselves for further studies.

Somepeople made arguments in favour of shorter school holidays which we also known as winter holidays at specially time when christmas comes so this made childrens of primary school feels Expladitious and they enjoy there two week of holidays but someone oppose these shorter vacation should not allow for Secondary students because that make there time waste but i objected this argument because for example secondary students also have there exams in same time so they also feel very exhausted which leads them to develop stress for further studied so i belive they also need same vaction time.

In the conclusion my belief say that summer holidays is must nessecary for both primary and secondary students to get refreshed, relaxed and start new beigning with fresh minds.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt only partially, discussing both the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the text falls short of the 250-word minimum by two words, which impacts the overall completeness of the task. While a position is attempted regarding the benefits of holidays for primary and secondary students, the arguments lack extension and rely heavily on general assertions rather than concrete examples or thorough explanations. To reach the next level, the writer must ensure the word count requirement is fully satisfied and develop each main idea with clearer supporting details and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation in the text, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but overall progression is lacking as the transition between ideas feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as the frequent reliance on conjunctions like 'So' and 'and', rather than a varied range of linking words. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks precision, particularly in the second body paragraph where multiple viewpoints are squeezed together without adequate separation. To improve, the writer needs to create a clearer logical sequence between sentences and employ a wider, more accurate variety of cohesive ties to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, featuring noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'Expladitious', 'vaction', and 'beigning', along with awkward phrasings like 'listed Summer Holidays' and 'study stress'. The range of vocabulary is restricted largely to common, everyday terms, with limited attempts at less common lexical items. To progress, the writer should focus on expanding their range of academic vocabulary, improving control over word formation, and paying closer attention to accurate spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as 'schools remained closed', 'people's have there own opinion', and run-on sentences lacking appropriate punctuation. These errors occur throughout the text and frequently cause difficulty or confusion for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic sentence construction, reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex structures.
