Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, schools and collages remain close for two or more months in the summer holidays, however in our country, schools and collages remain close for up to tree months. It has both pros and cons. Long school holidays are a gift for students who donot has interest in every morning school ruetine and it is also significant for their rest.

Long school holidays are significant for the rest of students from their boring and busy morning ruetine. In summer holidays student only enjoy resting and physical sports while some student want for picnic with their parents and families. Although the long school holidays have significant results on their mantel relaxation, it also have most valuable effect on their studies. For the instance, when a student do not study for more then three months it is difficult for it to gain more knowledge as well as to start studies again.

Therefore, some people believe that students must have summer vications, In addition schools and collages also want to add the summer camps in the students.Although the heat in summer cause many diseases such as fever, blood from nose etc, it doesnot means to close the schools for three months. schools and collages should want to start a summer camps in starting as well as ending of holidays, however more heating mounths like june and july are must be remain on holidays.

As a result, summer holidays should not want to much long as well as to much short. it must want to be on modrate days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the value of long school holidays and the arguments for shorter ones, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on the value of holidays briefly touches on rest and physical sports, such as when the writer notes that 'student only enjoy resting and physical sports while some student want for picnic with their parents and families.' Similarly, the arguments for shorter breaks introduce relevant points like avoiding learning loss and managing extreme summer heat, but these concepts are expressed with generalisations rather than fully extended examples. The writer's position is discernible throughout the text, yet the overall development lacks depth and specific supporting evidence, placing the response firmly at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organisation with paragraph breaks separating different aspects of the topic, such as the introduction, the benefits of long holidays, and the counterarguments for shorter breaks. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression between sentences and paragraphs, and cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, repetitive, or inaccurate. For example, transitions like 'Therefore,' and 'In addition' are used somewhat mechanically without seamlessly connecting the ideas. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns like 'it' are used ambiguously to refer to plural or abstract concepts, disrupting the logical flow for the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors in spelling, word form, and word choice that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent spelling mistakes such as 'collages' instead of colleges, 'tree' instead of three, 'ruetine' instead of routine, 'mantel' instead of mental, 'vications' instead of vacations, and 'modrate' instead of moderate. Word choices also show inaccuracy, such as 'heating mounths' instead of hot months, and awkward phrasing like 'add the summer camps in the students.' While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary, the persistent lexical inaccuracies restrict the range and precision of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with subject-verb agreement and auxiliary verbs, such as 'students donot has interest' and 'it also have most valuable effect.' Article usage and pluralisation are also problematic throughout the text, as seen in phrases like 'for the rest of students' and 'in starting as well as ending of holidays.' Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods and commas, further detract from grammatical control and sentence clarity.
