Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your response responds to the task only minimally, as it falls significantly short of the required 250-word minimum, containing only 138 words. Because of this severe length limitation, you only briefly touch upon the value of long school holidays, mentioning relaxation and travel, while the arguments in favour of shorter holidays are completely missing from your text. To improve your task achievement and reach higher bands, you must ensure you write at least the minimum word count and address all parts of the prompt in balanced detail, fully developing your ideas with relevant explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Your text shows some basic attempts at organisation, but the information and ideas are not arranged coherently overall. The writing lacks standard paragraphing, and sentences are joined together without a clear logical progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or inadequate, such as in the abrupt transition from discussing holidays to the consequences of academic pressure. To achieve a more coherent and structured response, you need to group your ideas into distinct paragraphs, use clear topic sentences, and employ a wider range of logical connectors to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, utilizing a limited range of words that are minimally adequate to express your general meaning. There are also noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout your response, such as 'favourise', 'reste', 'there' instead of 'their', and 'acadimic parcours'. These errors and the restricted vocabulary choice cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited lexical resource. To improve, you should expand your vocabulary by learning less common academic terms and paying close attention to correct word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple forms, and your attempts at more complex sentences contain frequent errors. There are noticeable issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'there is two point of view', as well as persistent mistakes in article usage, plurals, and basic punctuation. These frequent grammatical errors distort meaning in places and require effort from the reader to decode your ideas. To progress, you need to practice forming complex sentences accurately, ensure correct verb agreements, and carefully proofread your work to fix basic structural and punctuation mistakes.
