Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your response is significantly under the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 112 words, which severely restricts your ability to develop your ideas fully. You attempt to address both parts of the prompt regarding the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones, but your response remains minimal and tangential. Your ideas are underdeveloped and lack necessary supporting examples or elaboration. For instance, you mention that students learn creative skills and improve life balance, but you do not explain how or why long holidays achieve this. To move to a higher band, you must write at least 250 words, ensure all parts of the prompt are fully discussed, and extend your main points with detailed explanations and relevant personal examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Your writing shows an attempt to organise ideas into paragraphs, but information and ideas are not arranged in a truly coherent manner throughout. There is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical links between your sentences are frequently unclear. For example, sentences like 'That types skills might concentrate after spend this skills help balance in thier life' are very difficult to follow and disrupt the flow of reading. Furthermore, your paragraphing is basic, and cohesive devices are either absent, repetitive, or inaccurate. To improve your score in this area, you need to use a wider range of logical connectors, ensure every sentence connects smoothly to the next, and structure your paragraphs so that they present a clear, unified argument from introduction to conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. You use repetitive words and basic terms, and your attempts at less common vocabulary often result in incorrect word forms and collocations. For example, expressions like 'parts many activities', 'differents mentals health problems', and 'differents activites' contain noticeable spelling and grammatical form errors. Additionally, your choice of words does not always fit the context, which strains comprehension. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your lexical range, learn the correct collocations and word forms for academic topics, and carefully check your spelling and vocabulary choices to ensure your meaning is conveyed precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty and often distort your meaning. You make frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction throughout the text. For instance, phrases like 'The summer holidays might close for two months' misuse the modal and verb combination, and 'If schools holidays would short students focus their academic score to gets higher' contains severe structural and grammatical errors. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, you must demonstrate better control over basic sentence patterns, use accurate verb forms, and reduce the frequency of grammatical errors in your writing.
