Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most of countries educational insititutes for higher and primary level are close because of summer vacation for two months . i believe that these holidays are good for childerns health and to studies because in summer mostly countries experience high temperature in day time that will cause health problem for most student and also disturbe their studies.

there are several benefits for longer holidays given by schools in summer mostly students revise there previous topics that help them in upcoming exams also childer spend time with their parents that give them confidence for example in summers temperature is mostly high in some city like karachi and delhi it cross over 45% in summer which cause skin damage in young teens also childern face water deficiency in their bodies all these factor effect on there studies that's why authorities need to give clear guidence to schools to increase holidays

on the other hand some students spend most of their holidays time period in playing sports and other fun activities which cause them in the form of fail in exam this also effect on their health because they spend most of there time under the sun for these type of students school should arrange extra classes in summer give them task which they complete on daily basis but i suggest that school should arrange these class online.

In conclusion i believe that summers are not affective for studies because of high temperature authories should make clear rules for schools to not arrange classes in summers in case schools want to take classes for some students in summers. it must be taken on online platform

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the prompt by discussing the value of long holidays, such as family time and escaping extreme heat, and touches upon arguments related to shorter holidays or online learning alternatives. However, the position is not always clearly maintained, and the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument about high temperatures causing health problems or students failing exams due to outdoor activities lacks specific, well-rounded elaboration and clear examples, relying instead on sweeping generalizations like 'in some city like karachi and delhi it cross over 45%'. The response provides a partial answer to the prompt, but the supporting points require deeper extension to fully meet the demands of higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic level of organization evident in the division of the response into distinct paragraphs covering the introduction, advantages, opposing views, and conclusion. However, the text suffers from a lack of clear overall progression and mechanical or inadequate use of cohesive devices. Sentences within paragraphs often run together with faulty punctuation, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences ('i believe', 'there are several') and absent full stops between distinct thoughts. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it hard to track the logical transition from one point to the next. To improve, the writer needs to apply appropriate cohesive devices more accurately and ensure distinct, logical progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are repeated spelling mistakes ('insititutes', 'childerns', 'disturbe', 'guidence', 'authories', 'affective') and awkward word choices ('summers are not affective for studies'). The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on everyday terms without successfully integrating less common lexical items. While the general message is mostly conveyed, the frequency of errors in spelling, word form, and word choice means the lexical resource remains constrained and requires careful revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, primarily consisting of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('educational insititutes... are close'), incorrect prepositions ('in most of countries'), and missing articles. Punctuation is a significant weakness, characterized by a lack of capitalization and run-on sentences that lack proper terminal punctuation. Because these frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate poor control over basic and complex grammatical patterns, the writing stays within the lower range of accuracy.
