Student answer (Band 6.0)
In summer holidays, primary and secondary schools shut down for two or more months in many countries. A holiday with longer duration can provide benefits in terms of relaxation and also increases time for several non-academic activities. Although longer holidays are important, shorter school holidays play a crucial role to prevent levicity and also for not giving a lot of time for relaxation.
Many educational institutes offer a holiday for longer duration in the summer. This give students a sense of relief from their homework and assignments. Additionally, it also provides an opportunity either to learn or continue their hobbies. For example, in India, most of parents put their child in various summer classes in the field of drawing, cooking, dancing, singing, and so on. This is adavantageous for children, as it helps them either to learn or strengthen their skill. In this way, children can spend their free time in a productive manner.
However, it is not always true. Many children become lazy and inactive if they do not spend their time productively. For instance, children may find it difficult to come out of their comfort zone during vacation, as they tend to wake up late and stay up all night. During school time, they are more cautious about their time as they have a fixed routine during the entire day. Hence, the duration must be controlled in order to prevent any problems in their disciplined schedules.
In conclusion, there are several advantages of a longer holiday, as it gives children a chance either to go on a long vacation or spend time with their family members as a way of relaxation. Furthermore, it also increases productivity as more time is available to learn a skill. Neveretheless, duration of holiday must be controlled as children may become lazy and undisciplined.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a generally clear view: longer breaks allow rest and hobbies, while shorter breaks may help preserve routine and prevent inactivity. The India example about summer classes gives relevant support for the value of long holidays. However, the two sides are not equally developed. The case for shorter holidays focuses mainly on children becoming lazy and losing routine; it would be stronger if you explained other practical arguments, such as maintaining learning continuity or easing childcare pressures on parents. The conclusion adds family holidays and time with relatives, but these points are not developed in the body. Develop each main argument with a clear explanation and a specific example so the response answers both parts more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from relaxation and hobbies to routine and discipline is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some stronger control through paragraphing and logical sequencing. To make the flow more consistently smooth, avoid formulaic transitions and clarify links between ideas. For example, “This give students…” follows the point about longer holidays but has an unclear reference; name the subject directly. Also ensure the conclusion summarises the arguments actually developed in the body rather than introducing new examples.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “sense of relief,” “productive manner,” “comfort zone,” and “fixed routine,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “play a crucial role.” However, inaccurate word choice, spelling, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural. “Levicity” appears to be an incorrect word for the intended idea, while “holiday for longer duration” and “strengthen their skill” are awkward expressions. Spelling slips such as “adavantageous” and “Neveretheless” also reduce accuracy. Build precision by learning common collocations and checking spelling, and prefer straightforward, accurate wording when unsure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses: “if they do not spend their time productively” and “as they tend to wake up late and stay up all night.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your argument. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. For example, “This give students” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “most of parents” needs an article or possessive form. In “it also increases time,” the structure is incomplete or unnatural; a clearer construction would be “it also gives students more time.” Review agreement, articles, and sentence patterns, then proofread to catch these errors while retaining your varied sentence structures.
