Student answer (Band 6.0)

Schools around the globe has a vacation policy which is direclty connected to weather or a season, especially summer. During these holidays students usually spent their leisure time by doing and learning various life survival skills as they have abundunt amount of a time.

On the one hand, after continous process of learning, studying and grasping a knowledge it is reccommended to have a break to freshen-up mind, which helps an individual to learn new things at a good pace especially for kids. Moreover, during this leisure time they get an oppourtunitiy to learn various things from their parents as well as child would be able to learn an execution of little house chores. Meanwhile, both parents and children can have a better family time which offers strong family bond. To exemplify, 40% of the teenagers learn cooking and other life survival skills during their summer breakes only.

On the other hand, two months is a long period of time and if utilised wisely one can

complete whole new subject during that time. Apart from this, almost each and every educational institutes charges tution fees for 12 months despite of having official holidays for 2 months, which is a clear violation of pupil's fees. Another contributing factor is that, long breaks can disturb the effeciency and study cycle for a offspring which further would require a plenty time to bring it back on a track, for these reasons holidays sould be shorter rather than 60 long days. For an instance, it has been observed that children require around 20 days in order to fit their selves into a school schedule again after the summer vacation.

All in all, rather than eliminating vacations comlpetely it is wise to limit the duration of the vacations as it is vital for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear overall view: long breaks allow rest, family time and practical learning, while shorter holidays may protect study continuity and reduce the time students need to readjust. These relevant points support the response, and the examples about cooking and returning to a school routine help make the discussion concrete. The response also shows some development beyond simply listing advantages and disadvantages. However, the claim about tuition fees being a “clear violation” is not explained and is less directly connected to the case for shorter holidays. The statistics and observations are presented without context, and several ideas would benefit from fuller explanation. More balanced, specific support would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on the value of long holidays, a contrasting paragraph on shorter holidays, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the main contrast easy to follow, while examples are generally placed alongside the relevant claims. However, some linking is mechanical, and the second body paragraph packs several distinct arguments—fees, study continuity and readjustment—into one long sequence. The reference in “for these reasons” is broad, and the final sentence repeats the recommendation without adding much synthesis. Use clearer transitions between separate points and make references explicit so the progression feels more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “leisure time,” “life survival skills,” “family bond,” “study cycle” and “educational institutes.” This is enough to communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable: “life survival skills” is unnatural, “grasping a knowledge” is not idiomatic, and “fit their selves into a school schedule” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “direclty,” “abundunt,” “oppourtunitiy” and “effeciency” also reduce control. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “practical life skills,” “acquire knowledge” and “readjust to a school routine,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “after continuous process of learning…” and conditional phrasing in “if utilised wisely.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Schools around the globe has” has subject–verb disagreement, while “a offspring” uses an incorrect article and “a plenty time” has an inaccurate determiner pattern. There are also problems with verb forms and sentence construction, as in “students usually spent their leisure time” and the long sentence beginning “Another contributing factor is that.” Work on agreement, articles, and consistent verb forms, and divide long sentences where several claims are joined. Greater accuracy across these structures would improve readability.
