Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify relevant benefits of long holidays, including rest, time with family, and opportunities to travel and learn about other cultures. The Pakistan example gives one idea a concrete context. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the value of long holidays is discussed, but the arguments for shorter holidays are not explained beyond the brief opening claim that they help students maintain learning habits and remember knowledge. These points need development and supporting examples. The response also ends mid-sentence, leaving the final idea incomplete, and it is 88 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, complete both sides of the discussion, explain how each benefit works, and add relevant examples before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the opening introduces the topic, and “To begin with” signals a move into the first main point. The ideas about rest, family relationships, and travel are broadly related, so the reader can follow the intended direction. However, there is no developed paragraph on shorter holidays, and the response stops during an unfinished point about travel and learning. This prevents a clear overall progression and leaves the discussion unbalanced. Linking phrases such as “As a result” and “Moreover” are used, but connections between claims are sometimes abrupt or unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the two sides, develop one central idea in each, and finish with a conclusion that summarises your view.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “mental well-being,” “daily routine,” “leisure activities,” and “essential skills.” These choices show an effort to discuss education and student welfare rather than relying only on very basic words. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent and sometimes make the message difficult to interpret, as in “coutries,” “vocations,” “hlodays,” and “oppertunities.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “take spent time” and “feel unwind.” The unfinished phrase at the end further limits the range that can be assessed. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common collocations, for example “spend time on leisure activities” and “feel relaxed,” then use them consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure with “As a result” and a sentence beginning “While.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and errors in agreement, sentence boundaries, and clause construction occur frequently. For example, “schools summer holidays plays” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “While shorter holidays helps students…” is an incomplete dependent clause rather than a complete sentence. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “students” after a full stop and “Summer” mid-sentence. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and a complete main clause; then proofread punctuation and capital letters.
