Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many countries nowadays in many countries close primary and secondary schools for two or more months during the summer hodilays. I will discuss the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favor of shorter school holidays.
After a long school year, students are excited to start their summer holiday. In some countries, schools percieve long school holidays as a reward. After working hard all year long work, children should be rewarded to solidify the good habit. Furthermore, Long summer holidays help to develop children's personalities by giving them the oppurtunity to explore more activites outside school, learn life skills, and grow mentally and socially by interacting with others. In my experience, I once joined a summer camp, which helped me become more skillful and crafty. In addition, I learned to communicate with other kids and work in teams to achieve a task.
Some may argue that children should be stimulated whenever possible, encouraging the decrease of the summer holiday period, but I believe children can learn through other forms of activities, developing full-rounded individuals. Moreover, other believe longer summers could make the children lazy or addicted to electronic devices such as phones or video games; however, providing children with an appropriate schedule, customized to thier goals and needs, would help them grow and prevent them from acquiring bad habits.
In conclusion, long summer holidays allows children to become full-rounded individuals only if proper care and scheduling are applied by parents. Giving children this sense of structure and responsiblity with reap benefits for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear view that long holidays can benefit children when they are used constructively. The discussion of rest, personal development, social skills and your summer-camp experience gives relevant support to the value of longer breaks. You also present arguments for shorter holidays, particularly the idea that children should remain stimulated and the concern that long breaks may encourage inactivity or excessive screen use. However, the case for shorter holidays is less fully explained: you mention stimulation but do not show clearly how shorter breaks would improve learning or reduce learning loss. Develop this side with a specific reason or example, and explain the consequences of each main point more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on the benefits of long holidays, a paragraph presenting counterarguments, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. The progression is generally logical, although the second body paragraph combines several points—continued stimulation, alternative activities, and screen use—without clearly separating or developing their relationships. Some connections are also slightly unclear, such as how the point about children learning through other activities answers the argument for shorter holidays. Organise each paragraph around a more precise central idea and use referencing or transitions to make the links between claims explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including phrases such as “solidify the good habit,” “life skills,” “interacting with others,” and “appropriate schedule.” These choices help communicate ideas about development and routines, and the summer-camp example adds useful specificity. There are, however, some inaccurate or awkward word choices and collocations, including “schools percieve long school holidays as a reward,” “more skillful and crafty,” and “full-rounded individuals.” Spelling errors such as “hodilays,” “oppurtunity,” and “thier” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; for example, describe children as “well-rounded” and say that a camp helped you develop practical skills.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses in “After a long school year” and “which helped me become more skillful and crafty,” as well as a contrast introduced by “however.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors appear. For example, “After working hard all year long work” contains an unnecessary repeated construction, and “long summer holidays allows” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “other believe,” the plural subject requires “others believe,” while “Giving children this sense of structure and responsiblity with reap benefits” has an incorrect verb construction. Review agreement and sentence structure, and proofread each sentence to ensure that its subject and verb form a complete, accurate clause.
