Student answer (Band 6.0)
Whether school holidays should be shorter or longer has become a subject of considerable debate. This argument is vital because of it's long-term impact on the physical, mental and educational development of students. I strongely believe that schools should give two to three months of holidays to students for their health and recreation. In the contrast, there are also some favors in short holidays.
In some parts of the world like middle-eastern, african and arabian countries, there is extreme weather in summers. Scorching heat, extremely high temperatures. There is necessity of summer vacations to protect children from weather-related health conditions such as dehydration, heat stroke. Longer duration of holidays can prevent such avoidable problems and may improve physical health of children. As a result, they can perform better in academic activities.
Another favorable argument for long vacations is the need to switch from strict study schedules which enables children to spend more time with their families. Parents can also arrange international trips for their children. Furthermore, this gives a chance to younger generation to explore different areas, cultures and new things. Such recreational plans contribute to the physical and mental health of children. Subsequently, they will perform exceptional in final-exams.
Small number of holidays results in having more time at academic institutions. Students can complete their syllabus early and find more chance to revise the course. Repeated revision will lead them to achieve high marks in the subjects. Schools can arrange different indoor or outdoor physical and recreational actvities for the learners. These can be designed in such a way to teach something new. This may enhance the personal development of the individuals.
In conclusion, I largely agree with the fact that everyone needs a break, so the children do. It is very crucial to provide them vacations with long duration.Howver, academic institutions can greatly impact personal or physical development of learners. These small individuals also require to move out of their small lives and interact with the real world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear preference for longer holidays, supported by relevant points about extreme summer heat, family time, travel and recreation. You also explain the case for shorter breaks through more time for study, revision and school activities. This meets the task well overall, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of long holidays receive more explanation, while the shorter-holiday argument is mostly a list of possible outcomes. Some claims, such as holidays helping students perform exceptionally in final exams, need clearer reasoning or an example. To strengthen the response, explain the trade-offs more fully and make the relationship between each reason and its effect explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the benefits of long and short holidays, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some connections feel mechanical or imprecise, and the opening paragraph’s contrast between the writer’s position and the opposing view is not expressed smoothly. The sentence fragment “Scorching heat, extremely high temperatures” interrupts the flow, while “These small individuals” in the conclusion has an unclear reference. Use cohesive devices more selectively and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “dehydration,” “heat stroke,” “recreational plans” and “personal development,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and naturalness: “strongely,” “actvities” and “Howver” are misspelled, while “favors in short holidays” and “perform exceptional” are awkward or inaccurate combinations. Some expressions are also vague, such as “explore different areas” and “move out of their small lives.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but they limit the control expected at a stronger level. Prioritise accurate spelling and learn natural collocations for discussing education and holidays.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which” and “so,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. For example, “because of it's long-term impact” uses an incorrect possessive form, and “In the contrast” has an unnecessary article. The fragment “Scorching heat, extremely high temperatures” is not a complete sentence, and “Longer duration of holidays” needs a determiner or plural form. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as the missing space after the full stop in “duration.Howver.” Review sentence completeness, articles, possessives and punctuation, then proofread each sentence while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
