Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a relevant comparison between the benefits of longer holidays and the case for shorter ones. The first body paragraph explains rest, family time and activities, while the second identifies learning loss and difficulties for working parents. These are appropriate ideas, but some are not fully explained: for instance, the example about anxiety and depression is unclear, and the link between shorter holidays and schools providing education “whole year” needs more development. The conclusion summarises the contrast, although it could state more clearly which benefits you consider most important. To strengthen the response, explain each main point with a clearer cause-and-effect link or a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a concluding summary. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers understand the organisation. Within paragraphs, ideas generally move from a main point to supporting details. Some connections are less smooth, however: the sentence beginning “For example” is difficult to follow, and the list of travel and activities runs into a comma splice. The final sentence of the first body paragraph also ends abruptly. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make sure each supporting example is explicitly linked to the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “academic performance,” “learning routine,” “social skills,” and “manageable,” and you attempt to express ideas beyond basic repetition. However, the range and control are limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word combinations, which sometimes make meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “contunries,” “anixety,” “harmfull,” and “broden,” as well as phrases such as “spent quality of time” and “provide consistent education whole year.” These issues fit a level where vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main topic but errors are noticeable and can cause difficulty. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations, such as “spend quality time” and “throughout the year.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “while,” “which,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “which allow reduce stress” lacks a correctly formed verb pattern, and “a pupil study” does not agree in tense or form. In “these experiences can develop their social skills and broaden their knowledge,” the sentence is joined to the preceding clause with a comma rather than a full stop or conjunction. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause structures, then proofread punctuation and articles. This will make your complex sentences more reliable.
