Student answer (Band 6.0)
In numerous countries, during summer season schools close for two or more months which usually mark the end of academic year. Before new academic year begins, students get a few month holidays, which are usually two months or some times more than two. Durings these holidays, families usually plan long national or international trips and a few students utilize those holidays in learning other curriculum activities and new skills. For instance, some students join language training while others join any sport. I believe, these holidays allow both students and parents to feel relax from academic pressure and duties and enjoy season together by spending more time with each other, which generally not possible during school days. Because students spend most of their time in schools and after school hours they complete their home tasks while parents worry about making their breakfast and dropping them school before school time starts and picking them after school and hellping them in completing their home tasks. Therefore, long vacation helps both students and parents to enjoy life apart from studies and duties.
Some people think that there should be a small vacation instead of long school holidays. They usually claim that students find hard to follow the routine after long vacation, because during holidays students enjoy life free from any routine. For example, in mornings they wake up late and at night they sleep late in holidays and spend most of their time in watching television. So, after holidays it may become hard for them to wake up early and follow school routine.
In conclusion, Long summer holidays are better than short vacation, because it help some people to plan long trips, learn extra activities and enjoy life, which may not be possible during short vacation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear preference for long holidays, especially in the conclusion. The value of a longer break is supported with relevant examples, such as family trips and students learning languages or sports. However, the discussion of shorter holidays is less fully developed: you explain that students may struggle to return to a routine, but do not explore other possible benefits, such as maintaining learning continuity or reducing pressure on parents to arrange childcare. Some points in the first paragraph, particularly the detailed account of parents’ daily duties, are also lengthy without being clearly linked back to the value of the holiday. Develop the shorter-holiday argument and explain the significance of examples more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: the opening paragraph discusses the value of long holidays, the next presents an argument for shorter breaks, and the conclusion restates your view. Examples generally follow the points they support, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The long sentence beginning “Because students spend most of their time in schools” contains several ideas and makes the relationship between school routines and family benefits difficult to follow. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than drawing the two sides together. Use clearer sentence boundaries and transitions that show how each idea relates to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “academic pressure,” “curriculum activities,” “routine,” and “international trips,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to express specific ideas rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeable: “feel relax,” “join any sport,” “home tasks,” and “Durings” are not natural or accurate in context. Repetition of “holidays,” “students,” and “school” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms during revision. More precise phrasing would make your ideas sound more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “because,” and “while.” This allows you to explain causes and give examples, and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “these holidays allow both students and parents to feel relax” has an incorrect verb form, while “it help some people” does not agree in number. The sentence beginning “Because students spend most of their time” is also an incomplete construction as written, and the following sentence carries too many clauses. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into complete, manageable units.
