Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, tine period of summer holidays has became a depated isuue in our society. Summer holidays are the long period holidays. They have advantages and disadvantages too. Sometimes their bad impacts on students. I think longer summer holidays are meaningful for the students.
Summer holidays are considered the very lengthy vacations for primary and secondary institutions. These summer break is important for the students because during this free interval of time learners can get a chance to involve in other curricular activities like playing physical games, such as cricket, football, basketball, etc. They can also get a chance to spend more time with their beloved ones because during the time of their institutions they have a little bit time for their families because of daily routine of schools and burden of work.
The hot weather vacations are also beneficial for the good health of the students because when they go to their institutions they become sick due to surviving in that tough weather. It is also favourable for them because they can get a way during this interval to learn more unique skills like graphic designing, trading, editing, etc, which are very precious for their future. They can also develope their communication techniques with the interaction to new people. When i was a kid, i went to my relatives home in the vacations, it was so entertaining and relieving for me because it took me away from daily disgusting routine.
In conclusion, summer holidays are necessary for them for the betterment of their health, skills and also for the future. They can achieve many more beside to only the study and cramming of books. They can also able to gather knowledge about daily life things and also about society. They can do anything informative during this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response gives a clear preference for longer holidays, stating that they are “meaningful” and later “necessary,” and it offers relevant benefits such as family time, health, skills and social interaction. However, the task asks both for the value of long holidays and arguments in favour of shorter holidays. The second part is not addressed: there is no discussion of possible benefits of shorter breaks, such as maintaining learning continuity or reducing the need to review material after a long absence. Several supporting points are also asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that students become sick in hot weather is not developed. To improve, answer both questions explicitly and support each main idea with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two paragraphs about benefits, and a conclusion. The ideas within the body paragraphs are generally related, and phrases such as “because” and “In conclusion” help show some connections. However, progression is limited because the essay presents only one side of the question, and the opening repeats the general idea that holidays have advantages and disadvantages without setting out the essay’s direction clearly. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “They can achieve many more beside to only the study,” while repeated use of “They can also” makes the development feel list-like. Organise the body around distinct arguments, including shorter holidays, and use clearer referencing and varied transitions to show how each point connects.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a limited but relevant range of vocabulary for discussing school holidays, including “curricular activities,” “communication techniques,” “interaction” and “betterment.” These choices show an effort to use topic-related language, but noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “tine period,” “depated isuue,” “lengthy vacations,” “beloved ones” and “daily disgusting routine.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “learn more unique skills” and “gather knowledge about daily life things.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate wording: for example, “develop practical skills,” “spend time with family,” and “maintain a daily routine.” Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your ideas easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay includes simple sentences and attempts some longer structures using “because,” “when” and “which,” so there is some variety. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “the period … has became” uses the wrong verb form, “These summer break is important” has an agreement error, and “they can also able to gather” combines incompatible verb patterns. The sentence beginning “They can also get a chance…” is also difficult to control because several clauses and ideas are joined together. Practise accurate basic patterns first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and a correctly formed subordinate clause. Check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during proofreading.
