Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued by some people that primary and secondary schools remained close for more than two months in many countries in summer holidays. The long school holidays gave children to get relaxed from their regular studies and gave them some time to think about some projects or to build something new. There are the arguments in favour of short school hoilday that it produce laziness in children not to study in mostly students and quite their studies.

There are a lot of benefits of long school hoildays. As in many countries in summer they provide hoildays more than two months in which they can do different kind of activities. Childern can think and work on some projects and build some thing new. They can get relaxed with these kind of activities as well as doing learning new things and understand others paradigams. For example, in China, the students work on some projects and build new technology and tested in their schools. It sharpens their mind to think about technology with real experience.

There are also some arguments about the short school hoildays. As it's mostly happens when childern gets longer holidays they forget what they learn from the institute and eventually they left school and didn't continue their studies. For instance, in Germany, there is shorter hoildays are provided to students and keep them foucs on their studies while working on practical experiment not just doung one thing.

To sum up, from my paradigams, I think students should not allowed to get longer hoildays. They have to continue their studies as well as doing their projects. This way is much better than just foucsing on projects with this method they can perform their projects more precisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions and give a clear overall view in the conclusion: you believe students should not have very long holidays. You also identify possible benefits, such as time to relax and work on projects, and argue that shorter breaks may help students retain what they have learned. However, these points are only partly developed. The value of rest is mentioned but not explained in much detail, and the examples about China and Germany are broad and do not clearly demonstrate the claims. The opening also introduces an unclear idea that long holidays make students lazy or cause them to leave school, which is not fully connected to the question. Develop each argument with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion. Some links between ideas are clear, including “For example” and “To sum up.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and several points are repeated, particularly the idea that students can work on projects. The opening combines the benefits of long holidays with an unclear claim about shorter holidays, making the contrast hard to track. References such as “this way” and “these kind of activities” are not always precise. Organise each body paragraph around one main argument, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “regular studies,” “practical experiment,” and “sharpen their mind,” and the reader can generally identify your intended ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. Examples include “schools remained close,” “get relaxed,” and “understand others paradigams.” Spelling errors such as “hoildays,” “Childern,” and “foucs” also occur repeatedly. Try to learn topic-specific phrases in context and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for learning, rest, and school schedules would help you explain your arguments without relying on repeated words such as “projects” and “studies.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example, “They can get relaxed with these kind of activities as well as doing learning new things.” However, complex constructions are often not controlled, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence structure can make the reader work to understand the point. In “it produce laziness,” the verb does not agree with its subject; “students gets” has the same issue. The opening sentence also uses an unsuitable tense in “schools remained close,” while “students should not allowed” is missing a required verb form. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns.
