Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: the first body paragraph explains how extended breaks can give families time together, while the second argues that shorter holidays allow children to take part in sport and develop fitness and decision-making. These are relevant ideas, and the conclusion restates the contrast. However, the response only partially develops the value of long holidays and the case for shorter ones. For instance, the claim that family time helps children choose a career is not clearly explained, and the benefits of shorter breaks are mostly limited to sports. The opening also refers to “school weekends,” which makes the focus less clear. Explain each argument more directly and support it with a specific, well-connected example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting arguments, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally keep to one main topic, and signposts such as “On the first hand,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the intended progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between claims are unclear. For example, the move from parents learning about children’s hobbies to “choosing carrer” is not sufficiently explained, while “Hence” introduces a conclusion about memory and injuries that does not clearly follow from the example. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each supporting sentence explicitly to the paragraph’s main point; clearer referencing would also help.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “social values,” “physical fitness,” “decision making skills,” and “materalistic studies.” However, the range is limited and many spelling, word-choice, and collocation errors make the writing difficult to read in places. Examples include “scholl,” “numerious nation,” “vications,” “birthgiver,” and “serious injuries” in a context where the intended meaning is unclear. Some phrases, such as “big duration breaks” and “positive impact on social vlues,” are not natural English collocations. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise, familiar expressions over ambitious wording when you are unsure of the correct form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if parents spend more time with children” and “if parents enrolled children into sports club.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and plurals can make meaning unclear. For example, “Long duration holidays become students more sociable” lacks a correct verb pattern, and “parents and children close to each others” is missing a verb and has an incorrect pronoun form. The conditional sentence about enrolling children also shifts awkwardly between forms. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
