Student answer (Band 4.5)
Primary and secondary schools in many countries are closed for more or two months.According to my perspective the shorter holidays are beneficial as comapred to long duration of holidays.Children have an hectic routine during their schools ar working hours of homework and they feel too much burdinize of their daily routine.School holidays are the relaxing period for children and to do what ever they want and not having too much pressure on them. They could feel free and do what ever they want in home.
However, shorter duartion of holidays to children gives them a relaxing period as compared to long holidays the children should distracted from the studies and their study concentration are also affected and during this period the children use the gadgets, mobile phones and video games without even considering the study period.Parents are also concerned about the future prediction of children and keep struggling on achieving their good grades.
On the other hand im in favour of shorter duration of holidays as compared to longer duration periods.Shorter duartion gives a minimal duartion of relaxing or break from studies.Secondary school students have an great opportunity of studying and do their hometask properly as compared to school working hours. In school working hours the secondary school students feel more burdinize of school and academy work an do both task in a day.
To conclude the both the scenarios of primary and secondary summer holiday shorter duration of holidays are beneficial and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You express a preference for shorter holidays, and you mention relevant points such as children needing a break and long holidays potentially distracting them from study. However, the response addresses the two questions only partially: the value of long holidays is touched on briefly, while the case for shorter holidays is repeated rather than developed with clear reasons or examples. The conclusion is unfinished, ending with “shorter duration of holidays are beneficial and”, so your final position is not fully summarised. The response also falls 11 words short of the required minimum. To improve, explain the benefits of long holidays as well as the drawbacks, support each main point with a specific example, and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation: the response moves from an opening view to a paragraph beginning “However,” then another beginning “On the other hand,” and a concluding attempt. These markers show an effort to guide the reader. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the first paragraph combines several ideas, and the second and third paragraphs repeat the preference for shorter holidays without clearly distinguishing their arguments. Some links are also confusing, such as “However” introducing a point that partly repeats the earlier discussion. The final sentence is incomplete, which leaves the response without a clear ending. Give each paragraph one purpose, order the reasons logically, and use linking expressions only when they accurately show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “school holidays,” “studies,” “homework,” “concentration,” and “grades,” so the general subject is clear. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “burdinize,” “duartion,” “comapred,” and “future prediction”; phrases such as “do what ever they want in home” are also not natural English. These limitations fit a basic, repetitive range with errors that sometimes strain the reader. Build a bank of accurate collocations for education and rest, check spelling carefully, and choose precise expressions rather than repeating “shorter duration” and “long holidays.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main preference can usually be understood. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “Children have an hectic routine during their schools ar working hours of homework” has an unclear structure, while “the children should distracted from the studies” is missing a necessary verb form. There are also run-on sentences and missing spaces after full stops, and the conclusion is grammatically incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then connect them with conjunctions; check articles and verb forms during proofreading.
