Student answer (Band 4.5)

Many counties in which primary and secondary schools close for two months or much more for the summer holidays.

Therefore, summer holidays is mendortroy in many countries like pakistan,India ,bangladesh and much more its important.Ibelieve that summer holidays is longer good because in summer temp will be high so much and its good for the students to stay at homes.

Moreover, many school give two months some schools give 2 months 15 days but in somes school gives 1.5 months vacations. In my opinion, its good to gives vacations to students to relax their mind to spend time with friends, spend time with family and enjoy vacation but students also need to work on studies and focus on their studies.

The arguments in favour of shorter school holidys, i believe that we need to give less summer vacations to senior students but we need to give more vacations to childrens means middle sctions students because children can not come school they get sick or other types of fever so thats why we need to give less vacation to senior students for example senior students can come school during summer but we need to stduy them less time means 4 hours but middle sction students can not come to school during summer because they get sick.In my knowledge or experience,i would like to prefer give vacations to all students for refresh mind and enjoy their life because students were studing whole year but we need to give break them from the studying for relaxation of the mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both questions: you explain that long holidays let students rest, spend time with family and friends, and avoid illness during hot weather, then argue that senior students could have shorter breaks. However, the discussion is limited and the position is not fully clear: you first support long holidays for everyone, then recommend shorter holidays for senior students, before concluding that all students should receive vacations. The reasons are repeated rather than developed with specific explanation or examples. The response also falls 6 words short of the 250-word minimum; 9 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the answer, explain the benefits and drawbacks of each holiday length and make your final position consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic, a paragraph discusses the value of holidays, and another considers shorter breaks. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “but,” and “for example” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are combined in long sentences, and the argument shifts between supporting long holidays for all students and shorter holidays for senior students without a clear transition. Some connections are also repetitive, particularly the repeated references to students needing rest. Use clearer paragraph purposes, separate each main idea, and connect the contrast between age groups explicitly so the reader can follow the reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, but it communicates the main topic and some relevant ideas, including “summer holidays,” “relax,” “senior students,” and “family.” The repeated use of “students,” “summer,” and “give vacations” limits precision, while several word choices or spellings make the meaning harder to understand, such as “mendortroy,” “som es school,” and “middle sctions.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “refresh mind” and “work on studies.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing education and rest, and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe holidays as a “break from academic work” and say students “spend time with their families.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, with attempts to join ideas using “because,” “but,” and “so.” These attempts show some awareness of how to explain reasons and contrast views, but errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “summer holidays is longer good” has problems with agreement and sentence construction, while “we need to give less summer vacations to senior students” shows difficulty with plural forms and the structure of the sentence. There are also inconsistent verb forms, as in “students were studing whole year.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and complete sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
