Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies one relevant value of long holidays: students can relax after exams and a year of study. However, it does not answer the second question about arguments for shorter holidays, and the benefit is repeated rather than explained with developed reasons or a relevant example. The example beginning “For example, a student completing their primary studies” is unfinished, so it does not support the point. The response also falls substantially short of the required 250 words, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To improve, discuss both sides explicitly, explain each argument, and complete the response with specific examples and a clear overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph is followed by a paragraph beginning “Begining with the advantage.” The ideas within that paragraph are broadly related to relaxation after study. However, the response ends abruptly, so there is no progression to the arguments for shorter holidays or a conclusion. Linking is also limited and sometimes mechanical: “Begining with the advantage” signals a point, but “while” does not clearly connect the ideas that follow. Plan separate paragraphs for the value of long holidays and the case for shorter ones, then use clear links between reasons and examples. This would give the reader a coherent line of development.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the central idea, with relevant terms such as “summer holidays,” “exams,” “relaxed,” and “anxiety.” There is also an attempt to use topic-related language such as “advantages and disadvantages.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling errors—“countrie's,” “benifits,” “Begining,” and “sudents”—are noticeable. Some phrasing is also imprecise or repetitive, particularly the repeated references to feeling relaxed and enjoying the holiday. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing education and school calendars, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help explain the benefits and drawbacks rather than simply naming them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including “Having holiday after studying whole year, it makes study boring for sudents.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and clause construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “many countrie's primary and secondary school has holidays” has problems with plural agreement, while the opening sentence joins several complete ideas with commas. The unfinished final example also leaves a sentence incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and separating complete ideas with full stops. Once simple sentences are reliable, add complex clauses and check that each sentence is complete.
