Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are number of countires schools has decided in primary and secondary close for two or more month in summer holidays for refreshment and family time. this essay discuss abouth the value of long school holidays on the other side also the arguments in favour of shorter holidays.

The main point is the value of long holidays is Rest and relaxation. Due to the hard studies and acedmic work students has got much pressure during the period and thye might suffered on deperession and stressed and it will be affected on their mind , and they not concentrate their stidy life. That's why they neeed to refreshment in their life For that Students can recover from academic stress and they feel refreshed and after relaxation they get more attention during the studies. Moreover the Family time is also neccessary. Children can spend more quality time with parents , relatives and thier close ones. They can also travel in different citeis or towns for relaxation and students can learn about new places and cultures.

On the other side of people argue that schools should have short holidays. The main point is continuous learning. They thought about the that is neccessary for students , so they can remember lessons better and avoid forgetting what they studied. And at the same time, their flow won't be broken either. Furthermore due to the shorter school holidays students has performing Better in their academic work. Regular study routines can improve learning and discipline. And after that, their minds will work sharply, and they will never feel under pressure during the period. For example , After long holidays, students might often forget a lot, so they sometimes struggle to recall things. and at the same tume shorter holidays , students remember it for a long time.

In conclusion, although long school holidays allow students to relax and spend quality time with their families, shorter holidays can help them maintain a regular study routine and improve their academic performance. Therefore, I believe that a balanced school holiday schedule is the best option for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear overall position: long breaks support rest and family time, while shorter breaks may help students retain learning and sustain routines. The conclusion’s preference for a “balanced school holiday schedule” gives the response a relevant, consistent endpoint. Your examples of family travel and forgetting lessons help explain the arguments. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed: for instance, the claim that shorter holidays improve academic performance would be stronger with a specific explanation or example of how continuity leads to better results. The discussion of stress and relaxation is more developed than the case for shorter holidays. More precise support and fuller explanation of both sides would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion that summarises the discussion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the other side,” and “Furthermore” show how ideas relate. This gives the response a coherent progression. At times, however, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For example, “And after that, their minds will work sharply” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about routines, while “at the same time” is repeated without adding a distinct relationship. Some sentences also contain several ideas joined together, making the progression less smooth. Use clearer references and vary transitions by showing cause, contrast, or result precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “academic stress,” “quality time,” “continuous learning,” and “study routines,” and these phrases help communicate the main arguments. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “academic performance” and “recall.” However, the range and control are uneven: noticeable spelling and word-choice errors include “countires,” “deperession,” “stidy,” and “citeis.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “neeed to refreshment” and “students has performing Better,” which can make the reader pause. Repetition of “students,” “holidays,” and “study” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and word forms, and learn common collocations such as “need to relax” and “perform better academically.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “Due to the hard studies… students has got much pressure” and a concluding concessive clause beginning “although.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make sentences difficult to process. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “schools has decided” and “students has got,” missing or incorrect articles in “There are number,” and faulty verb forms in “students has performing.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “For that Students…” and the long sentence beginning “Due to the hard studies…”. Focus on accurate basic clauses first, then connect them with controlled complex structures; check agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence punctuation.
