Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable fact that in this contemporary era weekends play an major role to providing relaxing for human beings. Primary and secondary schools close for more than 2 months in summers in distinct nations. In this essay i wil emphasise the importance of long breaks as well as the benefits of shorter holidays.

To commence with the first point what profits will students get from extended vacation as firstly, it offers a time for eductees to engage in other activities and learning skills such as sports games, consequenlty builds a carrer in another fields rather than eduction who do not have interest in it. Secondly, some pupils lives in hostels that are far from hometown which creates stress amoung them so, it is neccessary to provide proper breaks that connects them with their family as a result parents can easilt guide them about upcoming life.

For instance, in developed nations teenagers participate in outdoor games those are geeting bored by studies.

On the other hand merits of shorter vactions, as it will helps children to complete syllabus in less time and having more time for revision, leads to achieve good scores in academics. However, learners can manage disciplane by spending their half of day time in schools due to in this distracting era everyone stucks in smartphone for online gaming which destroy a fresh student life.

To conclude, while long weekends are vital for holistic growth and personal connections, shorter holidays address academic retention and a maintained life. Eductional system should consider adaptive approaches perhaps modular breaks throughout the year to balance rest and rigorous learning, ensuring students thrive both academically and personally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question and maintain a relevant overall position: long holidays allow time for other activities and family contact, while shorter breaks may support revision and regular study. These are appropriate points, and the suggestion of “modular breaks throughout the year” gives your conclusion a practical direction. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The benefits of long holidays receive more explanation, while the shorter-holiday argument relies mainly on completing the syllabus, revision, and smartphone distractions. The example about teenagers who are bored by studies is unclear and does not strongly support the point. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of shorter breaks more precisely and add a specific, relevant example for each main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion that summarises the discussion. Linking expressions such as “To commence,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical or are difficult to follow. For example, “To commence with the first point what profits will students get…” combines a transition with a question-like clause, and the sentence about hostel students moves quickly from stress to family guidance without clearly explaining the link. The standalone “For instance” paragraph also interrupts the development of the first argument. Group examples with the point they support and use clearer references and transitions to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “holistic growth,” “academic retention,” “disciplane,” and “adaptive approaches.” This shows an effort to discuss education beyond basic terms. However, word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Examples include “providing relaxing,” “in summers,” “career in another fields,” and “a maintained life”; several expressions do not sound natural in context. There are also repeated spelling errors, such as “eductees,” “consequenlty,” and “neccessary.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate wording, and proofread spelling. A smaller set of precise phrases—such as “relaxation,” “during the summer,” and “academic progress”—would communicate your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “as a result,” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, but control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “To commence with the first point what profits will students get…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “it will helps children” has an incorrect verb form. In “some pupils lives in hostels,” the subject and verb do not agree, and several sentences join ideas without clear punctuation, as in the sentence beginning “However, learners can manage disciplane.” Use shorter, complete sentences when an idea becomes complicated, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and punctuate clauses so that relationships between ideas are clear.
