What are the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays?

Student answer (Band 5.0)
Almost in every country, elementary and high schools kept close for two or more months during the summer. These holidays are important in schools due to the extreme hot weather in some areas.
Although in some countries weather is normal there will be no need for holidays unless there is a genuine reason
Excessive holidays can cause a great loss in the studies for intanse if a student is coming to school regularly and a sudden long break happened then he will loose his stamina and probably he lost his intrest in going to the school that will become very difficult for some parents.
However, in some countries where the weather become unbearable schools must be closed for primary education because adults can bear the hot weather more efficiently than the young ones
so in these online classes should held to maintain the schedule. And government should look after these aspects.
Parents should keep an eye on the children activities at home and they should push them towards their studies.
On the other hand, shorter holidays are also reasonable for some occasions
in conclusion, schools must be closed during the peak seasons but not unnecessarily. this will cause a lot of mismanagement in the studies

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify relevant reasons for long holidays, especially extreme heat and the need to protect younger pupils, and you also mention possible disadvantages such as losing study momentum. However, the response addresses the two questions only partially. The value of long holidays is not explained in much detail, and the case for shorter holidays is barely developed: “shorter holidays are also reasonable” is stated without a supporting reason or example. Your position that schools should close during peak seasons “but not unnecessarily” is present, but it needs clearer explanation and support. The response is also 45 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides. Add specific examples and explain the benefits and drawbacks more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with ideas about long holidays followed by a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a concluding statement. Some progression is visible, but the overall structure is difficult to follow because paragraphs are not clearly separated and several ideas appear abruptly. For example, the move from unbearable weather to online classes and then parental supervision is not linked through explanation. Connectors such as “However” and “so” are used, but the relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear, and the final conclusion repeats the earlier position rather than drawing the discussion together. Use separate paragraphs for the value of long holidays, arguments for shorter breaks, and your conclusion, with clearer links between each point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “extreme hot weather,” “long break,” “stamina,” and “peak seasons.” There is some attempt to express specific ideas, such as pupils losing interest in returning to school. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less natural, including “kept close,” “loose his stamina,” “intrest,” and “mismanagement in the studies.” Some phrases are also vague, such as “weather is normal” and “some occasions.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe schools as “closed,” say pupils may “lose their study habits,” and explain what particular occasions or educational problems you mean.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “if a student is coming to school regularly” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “schools kept close,” “the weather become unbearable,” and “online classes should held.” The long sentence about a student returning after a break contains several clauses without clear punctuation, making the sequence hard to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then add subordinate clauses using correct verb forms, such as “If a student attends regularly, a long break may disrupt their routine.”
