Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, this issue of important of long school holidays and short holidays has become a subject of a considerabled debate. I belive that through the long vatication students can improve their phycial skills with the help of different activites and they have to times can research on the nature beauty and its important. Moreover, through the short vacation students students can improve their academic performance.

There are numerous benefits to long holidays. Since, when pubile schools allow to students for the long holidays than students can participate in many physical activities, such as outings and walking and crickets and friends have chances to start know about the nature important and value. For example, the majority to students, they make plans for outing in the long holidays, because through this facility learners can improve their physical power and this experience can use in their education purpose. Therefore, one of the main aims for give the long holidays is that pupils can reflesh himself and collect the information and experience, which students can use in their life.

On the other holidays, some of the main advantages of shorter school holidays is that students can spend their maixmum times for their education learning. As although, physical activites are significant for the students life but education is more important for the students. For instance, if students just spend their time to learn physical experiences and outing activities, then they can not too much focus on their education and they can not achieve their life goals and cannot spend a successful life. Therefore, short holidays is the best way through to spend a dreamful life.

In conclusion, no douth, students needs to rest and they should pariticipate in the physical activites. long holidays provide to life experience and improve students health and short holiday give the chance to achieve their life goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both questions and gives a relevant overall view: long holidays allow physical activity and rest, while shorter breaks may leave more time for study. The two body paragraphs also provide examples, such as outings and the possibility of losing focus on education. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The value of holidays is mostly reduced to physical activities, and the case for shorter holidays relies on the broad claim that education is more important, without explaining how a shorter calendar would improve learning or continuity. The position is present but not consistently precise. To strengthen the response, explain each benefit more fully and support it with a specific, realistic example or consequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each side of the question, and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the main topics. Some linking expressions, including “Moreover,” “For example,” and “Therefore,” show an attempt to connect claims and support. However, progression within sentences and paragraphs is often difficult to follow, and several links are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “On the other holidays” does not clearly signal the contrast, while the first body paragraph moves from outings to nature, physical power, and education without a clear sequence. Repeated references to “students” also make cohesion less effective. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a limited but relevant set of vocabulary, including “physical activities,” “academic performance,” “experience,” and “education,” so the main subject is generally identifiable. There are attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “one of the main aims” and “achieve their life goals.” However, frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices make the language difficult to read at times: “vatication,” “phycial,” “pubile,” and “dreamful” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “research on the nature beauty” and “improve their physical power.” Build accuracy with common collocations before reaching for elaborate phrasing; for example, say “spend more time studying” and “gain experience of the natural environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing attempts both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, including “Since, when…” and “if students just spend their time… then…”. This shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently interrupt meaning. For example, “students students can improve” repeats the subject, “short holidays is” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “students needs” is also incorrect. The opening sentence lacks appropriate spacing after punctuation, and several sentences combine clauses without clear grammatical control. Aim first for accurate, complete simple sentences, then add subordinate clauses carefully and check that each subject agrees with its verb.
