Student answer (Band 6.0)
'Schools are the temples of learning'. In a conventional epoch, due to lack of development in academics not much people were educated. In a modern era, development in education sector is esclating by leaps and bounds. It is highly debatable whether long school holidays are more valuable or shorter school holidays are much better for students in primary and secondary school. I shall discuss reason behind this in upcoming paragraphs.
The predominant reason why extended days of school holidays is significant because children can learn and adapt to new skills in those holidays which could assist them in thier adult life. For example children can learn music or painting or spending time with thier parents to help in family business to develop business skills apart from this children can get time to build their interest in sports such as cricket or football. Moreover, children gets more days to travel all around the world and learn about different culture and tradition which will broaden thier horizon and improve their knowledge. For example, children can travel with their parents to other countries and can explore museums and art gallories to gain wisdom.
As'beauty lies in the eyes of beholder'. Similarly some commentator opine that shorter period of school holidays are much better. This is because children will get to spend more time in school which will make their focus on study and learners will give better results in academic. To exemplify this, scholars can spend their time in school with their teachers for solving doubts and explaining topic students found difficult. In addition to this, longer days spending in school can help children to stronger their bonds with classmates and friends which will assist them in participating in group activity and improve communication skills along with co-ordination.
In conclusion, from the aforementioned statement it can be concluded that longer period of holidays can help learners to develop skills and students can travel easily but it can affect their academics results and bonds with their friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: the first body paragraph explains how longer breaks allow children to develop interests, spend time with family and travel, while the second presents the case for shorter breaks through more study time and contact with teachers and classmates. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The benefits of long holidays receive several examples, whereas the case for shorter holidays is asserted more than explored; for instance, the claim that extra school time leads to better academic results needs explanation or a specific example. Your conclusion also introduces a possible drawback of long holidays affecting academic results and friendships without having clearly established this contrast earlier. State your position more clearly and develop both sides with balanced reasoning to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each side of the discussion, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically within the paragraphs, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “To exemplify this,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, and a few sentences contain several ideas without clear punctuation, particularly the sentence beginning “For example children can learn music…” The transition “As ‘beauty lies in the eyes of beholder’” does not clearly connect the proverb to the argument. To make cohesion more flexible, use fewer formulaic transitions, clarify references between sentences, and organise examples so each supports one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “broaden their horizon,” “communication skills,” “academic,” and “group activity,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There are also attempts at less common or formal expressions, such as “predominant reason” and “aforementioned statement.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “conventional epoch,” “development in academics,” “esclating,” and “gain wisdom.” Spelling errors such as “thier” and “gallories” are noticeable, and some phrases are repeated or imprecise. Aim for natural collocations and accurate word forms rather than ornate expressions. For example, “learn about different cultures” is clearer than “learn about different culture and tradition,” and “develop their interests” is more idiomatic than “build their interest.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “to exemplify this,” so there is some structural variety. The main ideas remain understandable, but errors recur in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. Examples include “not much people were educated,” “children gets more days,” and “to stronger their bonds”; these should be “not many people,” “children get,” and “to strengthen their bonds.” The opening quotation and the sentence beginning “As ‘beauty lies…’” also need more controlled punctuation and sentence integration. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and check each sentence for complete, clearly punctuated clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to follow.
