Student answer (Band 6.0)
Primary and secondary educational institutions offer summer holidays exceeding over two months in many parts of the world. Indeed after year long educational studies it is right decision to allow students to spend quality time with their loved ones, as well as let them pursue what they are passionate about. While some people oppose this idea by students should be learning more rather than wasting their precious time, one they are most eager to learn.
I believe summers are most suitable period for experiencing outside world including traveling, playing games, going on a trip, doing multiple physical activities etc. Thus, keeping students in the classroom in such beautiful also suitable period of the year for experiencing outer world would be very cruel decision. Rather than trapped in walls they should be spending quality times with their loved ones, making connection through various activities, they should be joyful and full of life. For instance, such activities could trigger youngsters curiosity for science or language as well as any field which drives them through their long academic journey. Considering those values i cannot think of better decision than making summer holidays longer than they are now.
On the other hand, it is considered bt many that those periods are most suitable time for children to learn language or new skills because of their vast and fast learing capacity. Instead of wasting such valuable time, they should be learing new skills or strengthening their current level of education by further pursuit in their field. Growing up, i came across lots of such experiences watching my friends spending their summer on taking extra courses or learning new skills to get ahead from thei peers.
To sum up, some believe summers should be enjoyed to the fullest filled with joy and happiness, while some consider it is a great opportunity to get ahead from average. As a person i always preferred my summers filled with freedom and curiosity rather than educational opportunity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear preference for longer summer holidays. The value of extended breaks is supported with relevant points about family time, travel, physical activities and curiosity; the example of friends taking courses also introduces the case for shorter holidays. However, the shorter-holiday argument is less fully developed: explain more clearly how shorter breaks could improve learning, such as by reducing the loss of knowledge over a long summer. Some claims, including that keeping students in class would be “very cruel,” are asserted rather than reasoned through. Develop the two sides more evenly and make the conclusion reflect the comparison, not only your personal preference.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting longer holidays, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. “On the other hand” clearly signals the shift to arguments for shorter breaks, and “To sum up” marks the ending. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are difficult to follow. The opening sentence’s contrast about students learning “one they are most eager to learn” is unclear, and the long sentence beginning “Rather than trapped in walls” combines several ideas without clear links. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence. Clearer referencing and less reliance on broad transitions would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “pursue,” “physical activities,” “curiosity,” and “strengthening their current level of education.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “year long educational studies,” “beautiful also suitable period,” and “get ahead from average.” Spelling errors such as “learing” and “thei” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural, precise combinations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a “long academic year,” a “pleasant time of year,” and students getting “ahead of their peers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession beginning “While some people oppose this idea” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors make individual sentences unclear. For example, “it is right decision” needs an article, while “Rather than trapped in walls they should be spending” lacks a complete grammatical construction. The opening sentence beginning “While some people oppose” also does not form a clear, complete thought. Practise building complete clauses and checking articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries. Breaking long sentences into shorter units would help you retain complexity while improving control.
