Student answer (Band 6.0)
Summer vacation from schools is the new trend in many nations. The extended period for this holiday is mostly 2 months. While there are numerous benefits of this trend, the drawbacks are inevitable that will be elaborated in upcoming paragraphs.
To initiate the value of long holidays, predominantly, the learners and the tutors can relax themselves physically as well as mentally. Elaborating more, there is a lengthy syllabus that has to be covered within a short period of time that takes a lot of efforts spefically from teachers, giving them this break can assist them in gathering their all energy back before continuing further. Similarly, the tests, homeworks, unit tests and so on can be hectic for students as well. Therefore, the long breaks can be fruitful for both.
Additionally, the scrotching heat of the summer season is a reason why pupils fell ill and loose their energy. The school time table is not limited to classes and domains only but the students have to go out for games and sports, during this time, the learners can fell ill or even loose consciousness for hours due to excessive sweating and dehyderation. Hence, summer vacations are a good wqay to protect children from extreme hot weather.
However, providing these long holidays can divert the attention of students to other things rather than concentrating on studies. To explain further, it is a very well known fact that children do not study while on holidays because that is a period of enjoyment for them. they visit their relatives, friends and more and thoroughly enjoy themselves. Owing to this, they loose their concentration and even whatever they have studied washes out of their memory. So, when they return from vacations, they are completely blank and it becomes arduous for teachers to make them revise all.
To recapitulate, in my viewpoint, holidays should not be extended for a long time. Instead, the school authorities should reduce the school timing as well as the periods that involve going out of school should be retrained for sometime.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it explains the value of long holidays through rest for teachers and students and protection from summer heat, then presents a case for shorter breaks by describing lost study habits and forgotten material. Your final view—that holidays should not be extended—also gives the essay a clear position. However, the second question is addressed less fully: the argument against long holidays is developed, but the proposed alternatives of reducing school hours and limiting outdoor periods are introduced only briefly and are not clearly connected to the case for shorter holidays. Some claims, such as children returning “completely blank,” would be more convincing with qualification or a specific example. Develop each main point with clearer explanation and support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the benefits and drawbacks, and a concluding opinion. Signposting such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “To recapitulate” helps readers follow the broad progression. At times, though, linking feels mechanical, and some references are unclear. For example, “To initiate the value” is an awkward transition, while “during this time” could refer either to school activities or the summer season. The conclusion also shifts to reducing school hours and outdoor periods without showing how these measures relate to shorter holidays. Use more natural transitions and make the relationship between each supporting point and the main argument explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for the topic, including “lengthy syllabus,” “dehydration,” “concentration,” and “arduous,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There are also attempts at less common or formal expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural: “gathering their all energy back,” “the scrotching heat,” and “washes out of their memory.” Spelling errors such as “spefically,” “wqay,” and “loose” (where you mean “lose”) further reduce precision. Choose collocations that sound natural in context and check spelling carefully; accurate, straightforward wording is more effective than an ambitious phrase used incorrectly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “While,” “because,” and “Owing to this,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however, particularly in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “the drawbacks are inevitable that will be elaborated” is not a well-formed clause, and “the learners can fell ill” uses the wrong verb form after “can.” In “they loose their concentration,” the intended verb is also grammatically different, though spelling and word choice are assessed separately. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “they visit their relatives” after a full stop. Review clause structure, modal verb patterns, and sentence boundaries to make complex sentences more controlled.
