Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that summer vacations in primary and secondary schools are lasting for two are more than two months because childern forget their lessons. While others believe that these period are helpful for students because for thier health.I believe that these vacations are valueable for young childerns not only because of they get some time for relaxation and also get some family time but also because they learn some new skills.

There are multiple advantages associated with long holidays.Firstly, they learn some new skills in free time.As after a continues same subjects study they need some time to explore new skills which are useful in future.Take an example of Ama Watson,a leading Hollywood star, once attributed in her interview that the reason of this charming personality is that he always learn new skills in summer vacation. Thus, this mega benefit is playing a crucial role in personality development.

Secondly, apart from learning skills, physical and mind relaxation is also another major benefit. As after a eight to nine month regular study our body and mind need some break for relaxation because aftr a break we come back with a more concentration. For intance, according to a recent survey conduct in Germany, according to this survey 75% young people asking for a study break which help to reduce study stress. So this is also a postive advantage.

Finally, family time is a major benefit in school holidays. As childrens go to picnic with thier family and spend more time with their lovedones because it create a special bond between parents and childrens.

To sumup, even though long holidays have some drawbacks too but I believe that the benefit it brings terms of learn new skills, health relaxtion and more family time can make this development overall postive one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear view that long holidays benefit children, and you support it with points about learning skills, relaxation and family time. However, the task asks both for the value of long holidays and for arguments in favour of shorter holidays. Your response develops the first part but does not explain the case for shorter breaks—for example, that shorter holidays may help pupils retain knowledge or maintain a regular learning routine. The opening mentions that children may forget lessons, but this point is not developed as an argument. Some support is also unclear or insufficiently relevant, such as the celebrity example. To improve, address both questions directly and explain each main point with a clear, credible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas are generally grouped by topic, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Finally” help readers follow the sequence. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and links within sentences are not always clear. For instance, the opening shifts from the claim that children forget lessons to the benefits of holidays without clearly setting out the two sides of the discussion. The conclusion repeats the benefits rather than bringing the discussion together. Use linking phrases to show contrast and cause more precisely, and make sure each paragraph develops one central point in a logical order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “personality development,” “study stress” and “special bond,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors reduce precision: “childerns,” “valueable,” “a continues same subjects study” and “health relaxtion.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “this mega benefit” and “asking for a study break.” These choices can make the argument less clear or less academic in tone. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; for example, use “continuous study,” “requesting a break” and “a significant benefit.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the introduction and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include “these period are helpful,” “after a eight to nine month regular study” and “the benefit it brings terms of learn new skills.” Several sentences also run together without appropriate punctuation, as in the opening. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected subordinate clause, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
