Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, many nations give summer vacations for two or more than two months in primary and secondary academy sectors. I strongly believe that granting holidays to school level childrens can favours the child holistic development and shorter school holidays can imbalance the child growth.
One of the most significant important value of longer school holidays is that learners of age group 3-14 years old can spend more time with their parents and gain knowledge from their family envrionment in their home. Parenting plays a crucial role in child overall development mostly mental growth with problem solving skills and critical thinking. Because, human brain often get activated by getting care and attention from their loved ones which enhance a proper growth specially in kindergarden students. For example, a baby boy of age 5 years who spend 6 hours in nursey class and after returning to his home, he requires a nutritious food and enough sleep at home which obviously provided by their parents. Consequently, a long vacation provide break for him in their daily routine which also add that school time to spend at home by playing or doing other fun activities. This helps him to nurture in natural way.
On the other hand, less holidays given by some educational instituitions might affect primary level students but it can help to secondary level students who are preparing for their board exams and more holidays can affect their routine by getting distracted in spending entire day in home and with family members. For example, a grade 10 student have his final assesment in 1 month but he cannot study much in his comfortable zone. So, he needs revision in school envrionment and longer holidays create gap for revision.
In conclusion, longer academic holidays were mainly suited for primary level children for their holistic development while, it affect the board appearing students who get distracted in home environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses both questions and gives a clear overall view: long holidays benefit younger children, while shorter breaks may help older students preparing for exams. The examples about parental care and a Grade 10 student make the discussion relevant. However, the value of long holidays is developed mainly through time at home, and the case for shorter holidays is narrower: it focuses on revision and distraction rather than explaining other possible benefits, such as maintaining learning routines. Some claims, including that family care develops critical thinking, need clearer explanation or support. To strengthen the response, develop each side more evenly and make the link between each example and the argument explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion. The contrastive opening of the third paragraph, “On the other hand,” helps signal the shift in argument, and examples generally follow the points they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from parental care to a child’s food and sleep, then to school routines without clearly connecting each step. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “it” in the conclusion are not fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain it and add a directly relevant example; use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “holistic development,” “critical thinking,” “revision,” and “distracted,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make the meaning awkward, as in “can imbalance the child growth,” “school level childrens,” and “gain knowledge from their family envrionment.” Spelling errors such as “kindergarden,” “instituitions,” and “assesment” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural, precise combinations rather than translating phrases directly, and check spelling carefully. For example, “disrupt children’s development” and “the home environment” would express your intended meanings more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including explanations with “Because” and examples introduced by “For example.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. These include subject–verb agreement (“human brain often get activated”), article and plural forms (“a grade 10 student have”), and tense or verb-form choices (“a baby boy … who spend”). The sentence beginning “Because” is also a fragment, while the final sentence has a comma splice and an unclear pronoun reference. Work on checking agreement and verb forms, and connect dependent clauses to complete sentences. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
