Student answer (Band 4.5)

In many countries, primary and secondary schools shut down for two months or more during the summer holidays. Summer holidays are very important for children's health and comfort. Study in the duration of in schools is very difficult for students and teachers in classrooms.

Long holiday for students, depending on the weather and nature, is very crucial, because if the holidays of children are off, then they cannot be focused in the studies, and also coming to school in summer can harm the health of the students. Nowadays, there are a lot of solutions to this problem, like online classes and summer vacation work. Vacation for the children can improve their focus in studies and give them a break from their daily routine.

If opening the school is very crucial for their study, then few things are very important in schools. There are some main facilities like AC, AC in every classroom is nessary for students. The basic need is availbilty of water to every student

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response recognises that long summer holidays can benefit children, mentioning rest, health and improved focus, and it briefly considers conditions needed if schools remain open. However, it addresses the task only partially: the value of long holidays is discussed, but the arguments in favour of shorter holidays are not clearly explained. The comments about online classes and vacation work do not establish why shorter breaks would be beneficial, and the final paragraph mainly lists air conditioning and water rather than developing that argument. Ideas are also very limited and unsupported by specific examples. The response is below the required 250 words, which restricts how fully you can explain both parts. Develop a clear position and give reasons and examples for each question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction and two body paragraphs, and the ideas generally relate to school holidays. Linking expressions such as “because,” “also” and “Nowadays” help show some connections. However, progression is limited: the second paragraph moves from the effects of summer heat to online classes and then to children’s focus without clearly connecting these points. The final paragraph begins with a conditional statement about opening schools, but its relationship to the question is not made clear, and it ends abruptly. To improve, give each paragraph one clear purpose, order supporting points logically, and use linking phrases to show how each reason supports your answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “health,” “daily routine,” “summer vacation work” and “classroom,” so the general topic is understandable. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as the effect of heat on students. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated references to “crucial” and “important.” Some word combinations and forms are inaccurate, for example “holidays of children are off” and “availbilty of water”; these make parts of the message less clear. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For instance, describe the benefits as “a chance to rest and recharge” and refer to “access to drinking water.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, such as “because if the holidays of children are off, then they cannot be focused in the studies.” Most of the main ideas can be understood, and the opening sentence is grammatically controlled. However, the range is limited, and longer sentences are not consistently well formed. In “Study in the duration of in schools is very difficult,” the sentence structure is unclear; “if the holidays of children are off” also uses an awkward grammatical construction. The final paragraph contains a sentence fragment, “The basic need is availbilty of water to every student,” and punctuation around the repeated “AC” is problematic. Practise building clear complex sentences and proofreading sentence boundaries.
