Student answer (Band 5.0)

In a modern word, primary and secondary education insitutes remain close for sixty days or more in summer vacations. Holidays are necessary for children because they get opportunity to spend more time with their family. But ,I bleive that shorter school holidays are best for children manners and education.

On the other hand, some individuals think that long school vacations are crucial for children. The reason is that,in these holidays they do their favourite activities. For example, some children want holidays to play videos games, play cricket with their friends and live their life according to their own wish. Moreover, holidays is a time of joy for children. In children spent most of their time with family and friends. For example, family and friends play a key role in every person's life because they both are very close to each other.

On the other hand, some people think that short school vacations are more beneficial for children. In short school holidays children only complete their school homework. For example, they do not have much time to do other activities like playing games and cricket. In addition, shoter holidays can not disturb the daily routine of children. For example, it cannot effect the awaking and sleeping routine and also the eating timetable of children.

In conclusion, both vacations are beneficial for children but its depend upon upone several factors. From my perspective, I strongly believe that shorter holidays are more crucial for children because it makes routine good and can not effect children daily timetable and it is most important for children growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions by describing benefits of longer breaks, such as time for games and family, and by arguing that shorter breaks preserve children’s routines. Your preference for shorter holidays is stated in the introduction and conclusion, so the reader can identify your position. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the value of long holidays is mostly presented as leisure, while the case for shorter holidays relies mainly on homework and routine. Explain how these points affect learning, wellbeing, or family life, and support them with a more specific example. The claim that children “only complete their school homework” during short holidays is also unclear and does not fully explain why shorter breaks are beneficial.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two viewpoints, and a conclusion. Examples are placed near the points they are intended to support. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the repeated “On the other hand” does not accurately signal the relationship between ideas in both places. Some links are mechanical, particularly the repeated “For example” and “In addition.” Referencing also becomes difficult to follow in “In children spent most of their time with family and friends,” where the connection to the preceding sentence is unclear. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main argument, then connect explanations and examples more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “school vacations,” “daily routine,” “activities,” and “education,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, vocabulary is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “modern word” for “modern world,” “insitutes,” “shoter,” and “effect” where “affect” is intended. Phrases such as “live their life according to their own wish” and “makes routine good” are awkward. Aim to learn common collocations for discussing education and wellbeing, and proofread spelling and word forms. More precise expressions would help you explain the benefits rather than relying on general terms such as “good” and “crucial.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a reason introduced by “because” and examples introduced by “For example.” Nevertheless, errors are frequent, and attempts at longer structures are often faulty. For instance, “Holidays are necessary … because they get opportunity” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “holidays is a time” has subject–verb disagreement. “In children spent most of their time” is not a complete, correctly formed sentence, and “it depend upon” and “it makes routine good” also show problems with verb forms and sentence structure. Punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops are inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
