Student answer (Band 5.5)

Holiday is believed as a key that provides a little relief and break from daily busy schedules.Summer holiday is one of the most popular holiday among others. It is provided and acquired by every regions of the world that include educational institutes, work places and other spheres. The duration of summer holiday is commendable as it can be 60 days or more lengthy.

But there are a lot of inquiries regarding the validation of such long school holidays. The atmoshphere and humidity during summer is not a friendly one where children can enjoy any indoor or outdoor activities. The high temperature does not only make the flok sick but also create another battle field for parents. It is evident that, diseases spread more vast when summer is going on.The reason behind this can be the dry, polluted air because due to the summer the rate of rainfall declines. For instance-In the current year Europe has witnessed a massive heatwave during late summer .At that time the roads were melted due to the high temperature.Even the diseases are easily spreadable if the school remains open. This gives a validity to long school holidays in summer time.

However, such long vacation can be a reason behind academic drop out. After having a long break plenty number of students tend to quit their study .They lose their attention and other abilities to continue the study after 2 months or more break. For illustrate-Human beings are creatures of habit.A student who gets a massive 60 days holiday his habits get changed. There are several studies show that-childs who age between 6-8 tend to forget the writing habit within a week if they did not practice for once.It clearly shows the threat behind the long summer holidays.Hence, short holidays during summer seems more reasonable than long for the betterment of our youth and country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question: the discussion links long holidays to relief from summer heat and shorter breaks to maintaining students’ study habits. The heatwave example gives the first argument some support, and the point about younger children forgetting writing practice helps explain the second. However, the response does not clearly explain the broader value of long holidays, such as rest, family time, or opportunities outside school; instead, much of that paragraph argues that summer conditions make school attendance difficult. The position favouring shorter holidays appears mainly at the end, and several claims are asserted rather than explained. Develop each side more evenly and make the distinction between the value of long breaks and arguments for shorter ones clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about summer conditions, and a paragraph arguing for shorter holidays. Linking expressions such as “However,” “For instance,” and “Hence” help signal the direction of the discussion. Overall, the reader can follow the main contrast. At times, though, connections between claims are unclear: the discussion moves from heat and rainfall to disease without fully explaining the relationship, and “This gives a validity to long school holidays” does not clearly connect the evidence to the question’s wider value. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion is folded into the final paragraph rather than presented as a clear summary. Use topic sentences and explain how each example supports its paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “heatwave,” “academic drop out,” “attention,” and “abilities,” and the reader can generally identify your intended meaning. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes ideas difficult to interpret. For example, “Holiday is believed as a key” and “the validation of such long school holidays” do not express the intended meanings naturally; “flock sick” also appears to be an incorrect word choice. Spelling errors such as “atmoshphere” and “childs,” along with repeated use of “holiday” and “study,” further limit precision. Build a reliable set of phrases for discussing rest, learning, and school schedules, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if the school remains open” and a relative clause beginning “who age between 6-8.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “The high temperature does not only make the flok sick but also create” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “There are several studies show” combines structures incorrectly. Several sentences also lack clear punctuation or contain awkward clause connections. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement and verb forms before adding complexity.
